Start with the gaming convention’s official accessibility page, the venue’s accessibility and parking pages, and the local transit operator’s current information. Then confirm the exact route to your event entrance, any event-only shuttle or rideshare locations, and what needs to be requested or reserved. These details vary by convention, venue, date, and attendee needs, so verify them with the organizers rather than assuming a service is available.
Where to find current accessibility and transportation details
Use sources in this order, checking the convention’s instructions against the venue and transportation providers:
- Convention website: Find its accessibility page, attendee guide, transportation page, and event-day updates. Look for request deadlines, accessible shuttle stops, rideshare instructions, capacity limits, and event-specific pickup zones.
- Venue website: Check the accessibility and parking pages for the correct building, hall, entrance, parking facility, and available features. A large campus may have different routes and drop-off points for different events.
- Local transit operator: Use its trip planner and accessibility information to check vehicles, stops, transfers, station access, and service alerts.
- Direct contact: If a route, accommodation, or rule is unclear, contact the convention accessibility team, venue, transit operator, or parking operator responsible for that detail.
Keep a record of the relevant instructions and recheck them close to the event. Traffic, schedules, event directions, parking rules, and provider availability can change.

How to check accessible parking and the route to the entrance
Do not stop at confirming that a venue has accessible parking. Verify the exact facility and the whole route from the vehicle to the entrance you will use.

- Location: Which lot or garage has accessible spaces, and is it the one nearest the correct event entrance?
- Availability: Are spaces first-come, first-served, limited, or subject to another rule? Is a reservation possible or required?
- Operating details: Confirm opening and closing times, current price, payment methods, height limits if relevant, and whether re-entry is allowed.
- Arrival route: Ask about distance, surfaces, curb cuts, ramps, elevators, slopes, and any event-day closures between the parking space and entrance.
- Vehicle access: If you need extra room to deploy a wheelchair ramp or lift, ask the parking operator about the space and loading arrangements.
- Drop-off: Confirm whether an accessible drop-off is permitted, where it is, and whether the approach to the entrance is step-free and practical.
Choose based on the complete trip, not just distance or price. A nearby garage may be less useful than a farther option with a clearer step-free route, less queue exposure, or more dependable access.
How to verify transit, shuttles, and rideshare
Public transportation
Check the transit operator’s information for the specific route and travel time you plan to use. Confirm accessible vehicle service, station or stop access, transfer arrangements, elevator status where relevant, and the walk or roll from the final stop to the event entrance. A statement that a transit system has accessible vehicles does not establish that every route, stop, or transfer will work for every traveler.
Rank #2
Event shuttles
Ask the convention whether accessible vehicles are provided and verify the boarding and unloading locations, schedule, capacity, and whether a ticket or reservation is needed. Do not assume an ordinary shuttle stop is the accessible stop.

Ask the event for its actual pickup and drop-off location for accessible vehicles. Check the route from that point to the entrance, including curb access, distance, surface, and any restrictions on stopping or waiting. A generic map pin may not reflect event-day arrangements.
Rank #3
How to request accommodations or rent mobility equipment
Contact the convention’s accessibility team early about accommodations such as seating, aide access, or communication services. Ask what information or documentation the event needs and when it must be submitted; there is no universal process or deadline established for every convention.
If you need a wheelchair or scooter rental, contact a local provider as early as possible. Confirm that it serves the venue and event dates, whether delivery and pickup are available, reservation terms, equipment fit and operating range, and any event-specific restrictions. Inventory may be limited, and rental availability is not guaranteed.
Venue services can also require advance coordination. For example, the Seattle Convention Center says stage ramps and wheelchair lifts are subject to availability and advance request, and asks attendees to advise their event manager of special considerations at least 30 days ahead. That is a Seattle venue instruction, not a general deadline for gaming conventions.

Anaheim Convention Center
Visit Anaheim describes the Transit Plaza on the south side of the convention center as a transportation hub with accessibility ramps. It identifies ART and OCTA stops serving the campus near Grand Plaza, Harbor Boulevard, and Katella Avenue, and says ART buses are equipped for people with accessibility needs. It identifies Car Parks 1 and 4 as the most accessible parking choices and advises telling an attendant that ADA parking is needed. Its listed wheelchair and scooter rentals are subject to limited availability, so it recommends contacting providers well before an event. See Visit Anaheim’s accessibility information.

D23 and BlizzCon at Anaheim
D23’s event guidance describes accessible parking at Car Parks 1 and 4 as first-come, first-served, warns that parking may be off-site, and gives event-specific rideshare and accessible-shuttle instructions. Those arrangements apply to its event, not automatically to other conventions. Check D23’s event accessibility guidance for its own instructions.
BlizzCon’s attendee page is a gaming-convention example of the details worth looking for: it specifies Car Park 4 for accessible parking, identifies Transit Plaza as a transportation hub with ramps, points attendees to ART and OCTA buses, asks for accessibility requests in advance, and recommends advance wheelchair and scooter reservations. It also warns that parking and transit details can change. Verify the instructions for the actual event dates at BlizzCon attendee information.
Other venue examples
The Seattle Convention Center accessibility page describes accessible public areas, parking, restrooms, automatic doors, braille signage, TTY, and assisted listening devices. Its advance-request and event-manager instructions illustrate why readers should check the venue’s own procedures.
The Los Angeles Convention Center accessibility page lists designated parking, automatic doors, elevators, accessible signage and restrooms, and a foyer wheelchair lift. Its parking information says accessible spaces in its garages are subject to availability and advises choosing a garage based on event location; hours and prices vary with events. These are examples, not substitutes for the current instructions for your convention.
