XREAL has not announced AURA’s final price. The company says its base model will cost no more than $1,500 before applicable taxes. That ceiling is close to Samsung’s U.S. list price of $1,399.99 for the 256GB Galaxy S26 Ultra—but the products are very different: AURA is a pair of Android XR glasses connected to a compute puck, while the S26 Ultra is a smartphone.
How much will XREAL AURA cost?
XREAL’s official AURA page sets a maximum base-model price of US$1,500, excluding applicable taxes. It does not confirm a final price or which configuration will be sold at that amount. XREAL says pricing and configurations will be announced closer to launch. See XREAL’s AURA product page.
Samsung’s U.S. product listing gives these Galaxy S26 Ultra list prices by storage capacity. Live offers may reduce the amount a buyer pays, so these are not necessarily checkout prices. See Samsung’s U.S. listing.

|---|---|
| XREAL AURA base model | Maximum US$1,500 before applicable taxes; final price not announced (XREAL, 2026) |
| Galaxy S26 Ultra, 256GB | $1,399.99 U.S. list price (Samsung U.S., 2026) |
| Galaxy S26 Ultra, 512GB | $1,599.99 U.S. list price (Samsung U.S., 2026) |
| Galaxy S26 Ultra, 1TB | $1,999.99 U.S. list price (Samsung U.S., 2026) |
The comparison in the headline is most accurate against the 256GB S26 Ultra’s U.S. list price: AURA’s announced ceiling is $100.01 higher. It is a comparison between AURA’s maximum base-model price and Samsung’s listed price, not between two confirmed final prices or current promotional offers.

What is XREAL AURA?
AURA is an optical see-through XR glasses system: the glasses sit in front of the wearer’s eyes, while a separate compute puck runs Android XR. Google described it as XREAL’s first wired XR glasses powered by Android XR and Snapdragon Reality Elite. That makes it XREAL’s first wired Android XR glasses, not the first Android XR product overall. Samsung identifies Galaxy XR as the first product built on Android XR. Google’s AURA announcement.
The system’s two main pieces have distinct roles. XREAL lists the glasses at 95g, with Sony Micro-OLED displays rated at 1920 × 1200 pixels per eye and refresh rates up to 120Hz. The glasses also include an X1S spatial coprocessor. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results.

Glasses and spatial features
- Optical see-through displays, so the glasses are designed to overlay digital content on the wearer’s view rather than function as an opaque headset.
- 6DoF spatial anchoring, hand tracking, world-facing cameras, electrochromic dimming, and a privacy-indicator camera, according to XREAL.
- Support for insertable prescription lenses. XREAL lists fit ranges for interpupillary distance on its product page; check those and the latest regional details before reserving.
Compute puck and controls
The dedicated puck runs Android XR and uses Snapdragon Reality Elite. XREAL lists 12GB of memory with 256GB storage and 16GB with 512GB storage, plus a 4,455mAh battery and USB-C ports. Those are listed configuration options, not confirmation of final retail bundles.
XREAL lists hands, voice, and the puck’s touchpad as native input methods. Bluetooth keyboards, mice, and game controllers are supported peripherals. The product page does not identify specific compatible accessory models.

How does AURA differ from the Galaxy S26 Ultra?
Price is only one axis. The S26 Ultra is a conventional smartphone with storage tiers; AURA is a wearable display system whose computing hardware is in a separate puck. They are not substitutes for the same job, and the available specifications do not establish which is faster or better overall.
| Question | XREAL AURA | Galaxy S26 Ultra |
|---|---|---|
| What kind of product is it? | Optical see-through XR glasses plus a wired compute puck | Smartphone |
| Platform | Android XR on the puck | Samsung smartphone platform; the cited product listing does not provide a like-for-like XR comparison |
| How do you interact? | Hands, voice, and puck touchpad; supported Bluetooth peripherals include keyboards, mice, and controllers | Handheld touchscreen and conventional phone interaction |
| Where is the display used? | Wearable, spatial display intended to overlay digital content in the user’s view | Phone screen viewed in the hand |
Samsung’s Galaxy XR provides additional Android XR context, but it is a headset rather than a like-for-like glasses comparison. Samsung announced it in the U.S. at a $1,799.99 launch price in 2025 and called it the first product built on Android XR. Samsung’s Galaxy XR announcement.

When will XREAL AURA come out?
XREAL expects AURA to launch in Fall 2026. The company has not supplied an exact shipping date, and shipping timing depends on the region. Its product page lists supported launch regions including the United States, United Kingdom, several European countries, Japan, and South Korea; regional availability can change. Check XREAL’s current regional and launch information.
XREAL’s page distinguishes a reservation from a preorder: reserving does not require final purchase confirmation, and the reservation is refundable before confirmation. The page currently lists a US$99 Launch Credit reservation that receives US$199 toward a purchase during the launch offer, as well as a US$299 Founder Priority Pass limited to 2,000 reservations globally. These are live offer terms, not permanent prices or a guarantee of stock; review the official page for the current terms before committing.

- 6.8" Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate, up to ~1750 nits brightness, HDR10+ support, and ultra-smooth responsiveness for gaming and scrolling.
What apps and retail options has XREAL announced?
XREAL says Android mobile and tablet apps will be available through the Play Store and reported that more than one hundred XR apps were in development at the time of its announcement. It also named Project Hail Mary: Journey Among the Stars and Fallout: Factions as Android XR/AURA game projects. Those are announcements, not confirmation that the titles are currently available.
XREAL named Best Buy as its first in-store U.S. retail partner. That identifies a planned retail route, but does not confirm inventory at a particular store or on a particular date. Google’s announcement directs prospective customers to XREAL’s page for reservations. Read XREAL’s launch announcement and Google’s announcement.
Who should consider AURA at this price?
AURA may be relevant to someone specifically looking for wearable spatial computing, Android XR apps, and a glasses-based display, and who is comfortable carrying a separate wired compute puck. It is not simply a phone upgrade: the product’s value depends on wanting that XR use case, and its final price, configuration, and shipping date remain unannounced.
For someone comparing only the confirmed U.S. list price of a smartphone, the S26 Ultra’s 256GB tier is $1,399.99, while AURA’s base-model price is capped at $1,500 before taxes but has not been finalized. Choose based on the device category and intended use, not the near-match in headline prices.
