To find TikTok designs worth adapting, look for repeated creative patterns in recent posts, check who is using them and why, then decide whether the idea fits your audience. TikTok trends can take the form of sounds, dances, visual styles, storytelling formats, or prompts—not just graphic templates. Using one can inspire an original post, but it cannot guarantee viral reach.

What counts as a TikTok design trend?

A trend is a repeatable creative pattern people recognize and reinterpret. It may be a sound paired with different visuals, a dance, a transition, a recurring joke, a storytelling structure, or a prompt that invites people to contribute. TikTok’s 2025 year-end recap, for example, described both a dance inspired by Doechii’s “Anxiety” and varied wholesome videos using “Pretty Little Baby.” These examples show how one recurring element can support many interpretations; they are historical examples from 2025, not evidence that either trend is popular now. TikTok’s 2025 recap reported 10.4 million creations and 51.6 billion video views for “Anxiety,” and 28.4 million uses and 68.6 billion views for “Pretty Little Baby.” Those are TikTok-reported totals for that recap’s reporting period, not forecasts of future performance.

How do I find trending TikTok designs?

  1. Start with recent examples. Browse posts in the topic or community you care about. Compare several examples rather than treating one high-view post as proof of a trend. Note repeated sounds, visual choices, hooks, transitions, jokes, and audience prompts.
  2. Record the context and date. Write down when and where you saw each example, which community is using it, and what response the post invites. A year-end roundup documents what happened during that period; it does not show what is trending today.
  3. Identify the reason it may resonate. Ask what the format offers viewers: useful information, a surprising discovery, humor, emotional connection, or a way to express identity. The creative pattern matters, but so does the reason people want to watch or participate.
  4. Check audience fit. Consider whether the format makes sense for your subject and audience. If the connection feels forced, skip it. If it fits, keep the recognizable structure and add your own example, visual treatment, or point of view.
  5. Publish, then assess the response. Compare the post’s response with your account’s usual results and consider the audience’s comments and engagement. Use what you learn to adjust the next post; do not assume a platform trend label or another creator’s views predict your outcome.

How can I tell whether a TikTok trend is still popular?

Look for recent, repeated use across multiple creators, especially within the audience or community you hope to reach. Check whether people are still adding new interpretations rather than merely reposting an old example. Record when you checked: trend signals change, and a dated report is a snapshot of its own period.

TikTok’s January 2026 marketer forecast describes audiences as being in discovery mode and groups its signals under Reali-TEA, Curiosity Detours, and Emotional ROI. These are themes in TikTok’s forecast, not a public checklist of designs that are guaranteed to perform. The company points marketers to TikTok One Insight Spotlight and TikTok Market Scope for audience and trend insight. Availability and access may vary; these marketer-facing tools are not required for personal trend discovery.

In that forecast, TikTok cited a 2025 US result from its Marketing Science Global Future of Search Study, conducted by WARC: two in three TikTok searchers said a central reason they use TikTok as a search platform is discovering useful things beyond what they were searching for. TikTok also cited its 2024 US Commerce Landscape Study, commissioned with Ipsos, in which 81% of users said TikTok provides a view into real-life product usage. These survey findings describe reported behavior, not the likely reach of an individual post.

How should you adapt a trend without copying it?

Borrow the repeatable idea, not another creator’s finished execution. For example, a familiar sound might support a product demonstration, a before-and-after story, or a quick explanation—but the specific footage, perspective, and relevance should be yours. Keep the trend’s recognizable element only when it helps communicate your own subject.

TikTok’s 2025 trend report frames Trend Signals as evolving content patterns and interests, and emphasizes creator collaboration, authentic perspectives, community responses, and direct engagement. It reported that 81% of users said TikTok introduced them to new topics and trends they did not know they liked, and that two out of three users liked when brands partnered with a variety of creators. Those are TikTok-reported findings, not a requirement to work with creators or evidence that collaboration will make a particular post succeed.

For brands considering creator partnerships, TikTok describes Creator Marketplace as a way to connect with creators. TikTok’s 2025 report discusses creator partnerships in the context of participating in platform trends; it does not establish that a partnership is necessary for finding or adapting a design trend.

What do TikTok’s search figures mean for trend discovery?

TikTok said at TikTok World ’25 that billions of searches happen on the platform each day, up more than 40% from the prior year. That is a platform-reported figure from 2025, not a measure of how many people are searching for a particular design or how well a trend will perform. It does suggest that trend discovery can include looking at the questions and topics people explore—not only scanning visual templates.

The same announcement describes TikTok One Content Suite as helping marketers find user-generated videos that mention their brand or products, while Insight Spotlight helps examine audience content and trend engagement. These are marketer-facing tools with specific functions, not consumer trend dashboards or prerequisites for evaluating ideas.

What not to assume about viral success

  • A trend that worked for another creator will work for every account.
  • A large view count means a format is still active or fits your audience.
  • A platform forecast or trend tool can guarantee reach.
  • Copying a sound, template, or transition is enough to make a post relevant.

Use trends as a source of creative prompts. The practical test is whether a pattern is recent, meaningful to your intended audience, and adaptable into something original.
