If you want a compact mid-range phone with Qi wireless charging and Google’s stated seven-year update window, choose the Pixel 10a. If you want a larger screen, faster wired charging on the upper A-series models, or a lower starting price, choose a Galaxy A phone that fits your budget. The fairest current mid-range comparison is the Pixel 10a versus the Galaxy A57 5G—but Samsung’s A17, A27 and A37 offer lower-priced alternatives.

Which phones are you actually comparing?

“Galaxy A” is a family, not one phone at one price. Samsung’s US lineup page lists the A17 5G at $249.99, A27 5G at $349.99, A37 5G at $449.99 and A57 5G at $549.99, before eligible trade-in. Those are listed starting prices, not guaranteed current offers; check the live page for your region and purchase date. Samsung lists 128 GB storage for the A17 and A27, and 128 GB or 256 GB for the A37 and A57; storage is expandable up to 2 TB on the A17 and A27. Samsung’s US Galaxy A-series page has the lineup details.

The Pixel 10a is the clearest Pixel A-series counterpart to Samsung’s upper-mid-range A57 in the available comparison. An Android Central comparison puts the Pixel 10a’s starting price at around $500, but prices and storage configurations should be compared locally and on equivalent terms before drawing a value conclusion. Android Central’s Pixel 10a vs. Galaxy A57 comparison reports the head-to-head specifications.

Choose by the differences you will notice every day

Size: compact handling or more screen?

At 6.3 inches, the Pixel 10a is the smaller phone; the A57’s listed display is 6.7 inches. The A57 gives you more viewing area for reading, video and split-screen use, while the Pixel is the more compact option for pockets and one-handed handling. Both are listed with 120 Hz refresh rates. Choose by how you want the phone to feel and what you view on it, rather than assuming a bigger display is automatically better.

Charging: wireless convenience or faster wired charging?

The Pixel 10a supports Qi wireless charging. Samsung says the A17, A27, A37 and A57 do not support wireless charging or PowerShare. For wired charging, Samsung lists up to 25W for the A17 and A27 and up to 45W for the A37 and A57. Google’s stated Pixel 10a fast-charge result—about 50% in roughly 30 minutes—requires a 45W USB-C PPS charger or higher, which is sold separately; an arbitrary USB-C adapter may not deliver that result. Check the charging standard and included accessories for your market before buying. Google’s specifications and Samsung’s A-series comparison describe these capabilities.

Updates: seven years or six?

Google’s current policy groups Pixel 8a, 9a and 10a under seven years of updates. Samsung states that current Galaxy A devices receive six years of OS and security updates. These are manufacturers’ support policies, not guarantees that every feature will be identical across that period. Older Pixel A models do not all share the newer policy: Google lists five years of OS and security updates from US Google Store availability for Pixel 7a and Pixel 6a. Verify the specific phone’s terms if you are considering an older or region-specific model. See Google’s update policy and Samsung Business Insights.

Cameras: compare photos, not megapixel totals

The Pixel 10a has two rear cameras: a 48 MP wide and a 13 MP ultrawide. The A57 adds a 5 MP macro camera alongside a 50 MP wide and 12 MP ultrawide, according to the cited comparison. The extra camera gives the A57 a dedicated macro option, but neither camera count nor megapixels establishes which phone produces better photos. If photography is a deciding factor, look for independent side-by-side samples of the subjects you shoot—such as people indoors, moving children, night scenes or close-ups—rather than choosing from specifications alone. The available sources do not establish a controlled camera winner.

Software and ecosystem

Samsung promotes One UI features such as Samsung Wallet and Quick Share, while its current product information also lists Google Gemini availability. Feature availability can vary by model, region and software version. If you already use Samsung devices or services, Galaxy’s familiar interface and sharing tools may be convenient; if you prefer Google’s Pixel software experience, the Pixel may suit you better. Check the exact model’s feature list for your market rather than assuming every A-series phone has every advertised capability. Samsung’s US Galaxy A page describes its current lineup and features.

Which Galaxy A model fits a tighter budget?

If the A57 is more than you want to spend, Samsung’s US page lists progressively lower starting prices for the A37, A27 and A17. The A17 and A27 are also the models in this lineup that Samsung lists with up to 25W wired charging; A37 and A57 are listed at up to 45W. Samsung lists 5,000 mAh batteries across these four models. The page lists 128 GB storage for A17 and A27, expandable up to 2 TB; A37 and A57 have 128 GB or 256 GB options. Prices and availability vary, so treat the US figures as a snapshot, not a global price list. Check Samsung’s current US lineup and local product page before deciding.

How to make the final choice

  1. Set your budget and region first. Compare the exact model and storage you can buy locally; the Galaxy A name spans multiple price tiers, and listed US starting prices can change.
  2. Decide your preferred size. Pick the Pixel 10a if you want the smaller listed display, or the A57 if you want more screen area.
  3. Choose your charging routine. Favor Pixel if Qi wireless charging matters. Favor an A37 or A57 if the cited up-to-45W wired rate matters more; confirm adapter requirements and what is included.
  4. Consider how long you plan to keep it. Compare Google’s seven-year statement for Pixel 10a with Samsung’s six-year statement for current Galaxy A phones, and confirm the exact model’s policy.
  5. Check camera evidence for your use. Find independent samples or tests for the subjects you care about; the listed camera hardware alone cannot settle image quality.
  6. Match accessories to the exact handset. Cases are model-specific because dimensions and camera layouts differ. For the Pixel’s cited fast-charge result, use a compatible 45W USB-C PPS charger or higher.

Our recommendation

Choose the Pixel 10a if compact size, Qi wireless charging and Google’s stated seven-year update window are your priorities. Choose the Galaxy A57 5G if you prefer a 6.7-inch display and up-to-45W wired charging. If price is the deciding factor, compare the A37, A27 and A17 at their current local prices rather than treating the A57 as representative of every Galaxy A phone. The available specifications do not establish a battery-endurance or sustained-performance winner, so do not treat capacity figures or brand assumptions as a substitute for independent testing.
