If Pokémon seem to be missing after a FireRed or LeafGreen transfer, first identify which release and transfer route you used. The Nintendo Switch releases have an announced Pokémon HOME connection for October 2026, but the original Game Boy Advance cartridges are not listed as Poké Transporter inputs. Then check every box in the source game and Pokémon HOME, review HOME’s Notebook, and confirm the Nintendo Account and console user involved.

First, identify the FireRed or LeafGreen release and transfer route

There are two different situations that can sound like “transferring FireRed or LeafGreen Pokémon.” The original games are Game Boy Advance cartridges; separate Nintendo Switch releases were announced to link with Pokémon HOME in October 2026. The announcement does not establish the feature’s exact availability, transfer steps, or destination details as of October 7, 2026. The Pokémon Company’s announcement is specific to the Switch releases.

Nintendo’s published list of games compatible with Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter does not name the original GBA FireRed or LeafGreen cartridges as Poké Transporter inputs. Do not assume that an original cartridge transfers directly to HOME by that route. Nintendo’s compatibility list covers the games and destinations it supports.

Before troubleshooting, note which release you used, which app or device started the transfer, and whether you saw a transfer-complete message. If you used the newly announced Switch connection, consult Pokémon HOME’s current instructions or Pokémon Support for release-specific steps; the announcement alone is not a step-by-step guide.

Check the source game and every Pokémon HOME box

A Pokémon that appears missing may still be in the source game, in a different HOME box, or have been moved out of HOME. Nintendo’s checklist recommends checking all available boxes in the original game and then every box in Pokémon HOME. Avoid relying on a single box or assuming the transfer included every Pokémon you intended to move. Nintendo’s missing-Pokémon guide provides the general checks.

Use HOME’s Notebook to check transfer history

Open the Notebook in Pokémon HOME and look for records showing whether the Pokémon entered HOME or was moved out. Nintendo recommends checking the record log to verify transfer-in and transfer-out history. That can help distinguish an incomplete transfer from a Pokémon that arrived and was subsequently moved, but the Notebook is not described as a recovery tool or a record of every possible cause.

Confirm the account and console user

Compare the Nintendo Accounts on console and mobile

If you use both the console and mobile versions of Pokémon HOME, make sure they are linked to the same Nintendo Account. Nintendo says their Pokémon boxes will not be shared if the mobile app is linked to a different account or to no account.

Ask whether another player used the console

Someone else using the same Nintendo Switch console may have moved Pokémon from compatible save data into their own Pokémon HOME boxes. Check with other console users if the records and boxes do not match what you expected.

If Pokémon Bank was part of the transfer

For a Bank-to-HOME transfer, verify that the Nintendo Network ID used with Pokémon Bank is linked to the Nintendo Account used with Pokémon HOME. Pokémon Support says HOME Premium is required for this route. Pokémon Support’s connection instructions describe two transfer options:

  • Without a Nintendo 3DS: Pokémon HOME uses the linked account route, and all Pokémon in Pokémon Bank are moved at once. This is not a way to select only some Pokémon.
  • With a Nintendo 3DS: Pokémon HOME displays a Moving Key to enter in Pokémon Bank. The key expires after three minutes, so enter it within that window.

The Bank-to-HOME transfer is one-way: Pokémon moved from Bank cannot be sent back to Bank or used with Nintendo 3DS titles. Nintendo’s transfer instructions explain this limitation: How to Transfer Pokémon (Pokémon HOME).

Know the Pokémon Bank service deadline

Nintendo announced that Pokémon Bank service will end on February 25, 2027, at 7:00 p.m. PST. Bank-to-HOME transfers will no longer be possible after the service ends, and Nintendo says Bank is not currently available for download. See Nintendo’s Pokémon Bank end-of-service notice for the service status and deadline.

When to contact Pokémon Support

If you have checked the source game, every HOME box, the Notebook, the linked account, and other users of the console without finding the Pokémon or explaining the move, contact Pokémon Support. Nintendo’s missing-Pokémon guide directs users to support when its checks do not resolve the issue. Have the release and transfer route you used, the account details relevant to the transfer, and any transfer-complete message or Notebook entry available when you explain the problem.
