On the PS5 your family member will use, open Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play, then select Enable. The game owner’s account must have purchased and downloaded the game, and Console Sharing and Offline Play can be enabled on only one PS5 at a time for that account.
Set up Console Sharing and Offline Play
- On the PS5 your family member will use, go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play.
- Select Enable. If the setting is enabled on another PS5 for the owner’s account, disable it on that console first.
- Sign in to the account that owns the digital game, then purchase and download the game if you have not already done so.
- Your family member can switch to their own user profile on that PS5 and play the owner’s downloaded games. Sony describes this access as available to anyone who uses the enabled PS5; joining the owner’s PlayStation family group is not a setup requirement.
Sony calls the feature Console Sharing and Offline Play. It is automatically enabled on the first PS5 used to sign in to PlayStation. Enabling it on a different PS5 moves the shared-console access rather than transferring ownership of the games.
What the other player can access
Other users of the enabled PS5 can play games and media the owner purchased and downloaded, even when that PS5 is offline. The other player uses their own profile, but the game entitlement remains with the purchasing account.

Understand the one-PS5 limit
PlayStation allows Console Sharing and Offline Play on one PS5 console at a time for an account. The owner can use the feature on a different PS5 by disabling it on the current shared console and enabling it on the new one. The setting controls which PS5 shares the owner’s content; it does not mean the account can own games on only one console.
If you cannot access the old PS5
If the owner no longer has the old console, they can remotely deactivate all devices through Account Management. PlayStation limits this remote all-device deactivation to once every six months. After deactivation, enable Console Sharing and Offline Play on the PS5 the family member will use.

Which PlayStation Plus benefits are shared?
Some PlayStation Plus benefits can be shared with other users on the enabled PS5, but the subscription and its benefits remain tied to the subscribing account. PlayStation’s benefit-sharing guidance distinguishes benefits available to other users from account-specific benefits.

Troubleshoot a game that will not start
- Check ownership and download: Confirm the signed-in owner account purchased the game and that it has been downloaded to the PS5.
- Check the console setting: Confirm Console Sharing and Offline Play is enabled on the PS5 being used.
- Check subscription access: For a PlayStation Plus title, verify the subscription is active and the game remains available on the relevant plan.
- Resolve a lock icon: Follow PlayStation’s license and network troubleshooting steps for the title.
