On Nintendo Switch 2, The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival uses Y for the standard melee combo, X for a slower heavy attack, B to dodge or run, and A to loot. Ranged combat uses ZL to aim and ZR to fire, while healing takes time and can leave you exposed. The controls below are reported by a Switch 2 reviewer, not published as an official control manual.

| Move | Left stick | Move your character. |
| Move camera / change ranged target | Right stick | Adjust the camera when needed; while using ranged weapons, switch targets. |
| Melee combo | Y | Perform the standard melee combo. |
| Heavy attack | X | Use a slower, more damaging attack that can break enemy armor. |
| Dodge / run / vault | Tap B / hold B | Tap to roll and hold to run. Rolling or running near certain obstacles can vault them. |
| Loot | Hold A near a lootable object | Collect a ranged weapon or ammunition. If you already carry the weapon, looting it gives ammunition instead. |
| Aim / fire | ZL / ZR | Aim with ZL and fire with ZR, provided the selected weapon has ammunition. |
| Switch ranged weapon | Up or down on D-pad | Change your selected ranged weapon. |
| Melee weapon attack | R | Attack with your equipped melee weapon. |
| Use healing item | Left or right on D-pad | Use the selected healing item; keep holding the chosen direction through the action for maximum medkit recovery, according to the review. |
| Crouch | Press left stick | Crouch to make less noise around enemies and support sneaking. |
| Adrenaline attack | L | Use after the meter fills and the ability has been unlocked through progression. |
How do you aim and shoot?
Hold or press ZL to aim, then use ZR to fire. The right stick changes the ranged target, and up or down on the D-pad switches ranged weapons. A shot requires ammunition, so check your supply before relying on a firearm or crossbow. Holding A beside loot can replenish ammunition by collecting a weapon you already carry.
Recommended Free Tools
Ranged attacks can clear groups, but ammunition is a limited resource in a fight. Use them when distance or a crowd makes them valuable, and rely on melee when you can safely engage without spending a shot.

How do you heal?
Press left or right on the D-pad to select or use a healing item. The Switch 2 reviewer says to keep holding that direction through the healing action to get the maximum medkit recovery. Healing occupies your character during its recovery animation, leaving you vulnerable to attacks.
Look for a safer opening before healing rather than starting the action while enemies can interrupt or hit you. The review also reports that progression can unlock upgrades such as increased medkit capacity.
Which attacks work best in combat?
Use standard melee combos for close fights
Y performs the standard melee combo. It is the straightforward option when you are close enough to attack without spending ranged ammunition.

Use heavy attacks against armor
X delivers a slower, stronger attack that can break enemy armor. Its slower timing makes it a considered choice rather than an automatic substitute for the faster combo.
Use ranged attacks selectively
ZL and ZR let you aim and fire, but each shot depends on available ammunition. The game features walker swarms, human enemies, bosses, and character-specific fighting styles; official Xbox Store copy describes a mix of melee abilities and crowd-clearing ranged attacks.
Watch for openings against bosses
The Switch 2 reviewer advises observing boss attack patterns and striking when an opening appears. Rolling with B can help you avoid danger, while running near certain obstacles can vault them. Crouching by pressing the left stick reduces noise around enemies and supports sneaking.

Can you change the difficulty?
The Switch 2 review reports three choices: Easy, Normal, and Hard. The reviewer describes Easy as a fit for less experienced beat ’em up players, Normal as the baseline, and Hard as a much greater challenge. That is the reviewer’s guidance, not a guarantee that Easy removes every demanding encounter or serves every accessibility need. The Xbox Store also describes multiple difficulty levels and an optional Easy Mode.
How do progression and Adrenaline work?
The Switch 2 reviewer says progress awards knowledge points and character-specific materials, which are spent to unlock skill-tree nodes for abilities, stats, and upgrades. Reported improvements include medkit capacity, roll cooldown, loot, ranged weapon range, and a charged Adrenaline attack. Once the Adrenaline ability is unlocked and its meter fills, press L to use it.
Does the Switch 2 version have accessibility settings?
The available Switch 2 review documents difficulty choices, but does not establish which other accessibility settings are available on this platform. Check the game’s options menu on your installed build for sound, subtitles, and input settings; do not assume that a setting listed for another platform is present on Switch 2.

The Steam store listing reports adjustable difficulty, custom volume controls, keyboard-only input, subtitles, and full controller support for the PC version. Those are Steam listing details, not confirmation of Switch 2 features. Trailmark Games’ Steam Community FAQ says, “The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival is best played with a controller,” and, “We are continuing to monitor feedback regarding rebinding keys & actions.” That time-specific Steam statement does not establish whether Switch 2 button remapping is available or whether remapping was added later.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can you remap the controls?
Switch 2 button remapping is not established by the available platform-specific information. Check the in-game input or controller options on your own build for a remapping setting. The developer/publisher’s Steam FAQ discussed monitoring feedback about rebinding keys and actions, but that statement is not proof of a Switch 2 remapping feature.
