Search a country-specific streaming guide such as JustWatch, check whether a title is included with a subscription or available free, for rent, or to buy, then confirm the offer on the provider’s own service before paying. Streaming rights vary by country and change over time, so treat a search result as a lead to verify—not a guarantee.
How to check where a title is streaming
- Search the exact title. Add the release year for a film or the season for a series if there are remakes, alternate titles, or multiple adaptations. This helps distinguish the version you mean.
- Set the country where you plan to watch. In a guide such as JustWatch, use the country selection before relying on results. JustWatch’s terms of use note that availability may vary by region and change over time.
- Read the offer type, not just the provider name. A listing may mean subscription access, free or ad-supported viewing, rental, or purchase. JustWatch describes these categories in its service overview; its provider-filter help explains how to view buy and rent offers. A provider logo alone does not establish that a title is included in your plan.
- Open the provider’s app or title page before spending. Check that the title is still available in your country and whether it is included in your plan or requires a separate rental or purchase. Catalogs and offers can change, as JustWatch’s terms explain.
- Track titles you cannot watch yet. Add them to a watchlist and enable availability notifications if the guide supports them. JustWatch says users tracking titles can receive notifications when availability changes; see its terms of use.
What “available” can mean
Availability is not a single kind of access. Check which of these routes the listing actually offers:
- Subscription: included with a particular service or plan, subject to the provider’s terms.
- Free or ad-supported: watch without a separate rental or purchase payment, potentially with ads.
- Rent: pay for temporary access under the provider’s rental terms.
- Buy: pay to add a title to a digital library, subject to the store’s terms and regional availability.
JustWatch describes itself as “a free streaming guide, designed to help you find where to watch your favorite movies and shows online.” That makes it useful for discovering legal offers, but it does not establish that every legal option in every market is listed. Its provider-filter guidance is a reason to inspect the offer category rather than assume every result is subscription viewing.

What to do when a listing is stale or missing
If the guide says the title is available
Search for the title in the provider’s own app or website, using the same country and the exact film version or season. Confirm the access type and any rental or purchase terms there before subscribing or paying. If the provider does not show the title, the listing may no longer reflect the current offer; try another country-specific search and check again later rather than assuming the old result is still valid.

If no subscription service is listed
Check the free or ad-supported, rental, and purchase categories before concluding that the title cannot be watched legally. For eligible titles in supported regions, rentals and purchases through Google TV or YouTube are added to the user’s library. Google’s availability help explains where content can be watched and notes that storefront features vary by region. Movies Anywhere is limited to eligible US titles.
If you use Google TV to search
Google TV can be another discovery route on supported devices and in supported regions, but its tabs and features depend on country, language, and availability. Google outlines those qualifications in its Google TV and Android TV help. It can surface options; it does not make a title available in a region where the rights or storefront offer are absent.

How current are streaming-guide results?
JustWatch’s Content Partner documentation says its partner data receives daily updates. That is a statement about partner data, not a promise that every consumer-facing search result updates instantly or that every provider is covered. No universal accuracy rate or complete country-by-country coverage guarantee is established by the cited documentation. For a decision that involves a subscription or payment, verify the title and offer directly with the provider.
