No Watch Dogs remake or new game has been announced. At Ubisoft’s September 30, 2026 general shareholders’ meeting, CEO Yves Guillemot said the franchise might be remade in the future, but described that prospect as conditional—not an approved or scheduled project. The latest released main entry identified by Ubisoft remains Watch Dogs: Legion (2020).
What Ubisoft said about a possible remake
Asked why Watch Dogs was not included among Ubisoft’s creative houses, CEO Yves Guillemot said the franchise had not been used much, ran on an engine different from Anvil and Snowdrop, and had not received priority compared with the company’s other existing brands. He then said it was still important to Ubisoft’s future and that it could potentially be remade. The published meeting transcript attributes the answer to Guillemot; it is not CFO Frédérick Duguet’s statement.

The crucial word is “potentially.” Guillemot did not announce that a remake had been approved, entered production, been assigned to a team, or received a release window. His answer describes Ubisoft’s view of the brand and a possibility, not a confirmed game.

Is there a new Watch Dogs game after Legion?
Ubisoft identifies Watch Dogs: Legion as the series’ third entry. Its published history lists Watch Dogs (2014), Watch Dogs 2 (2016), and Watch Dogs: Legion (2020). Ubisoft’s franchise page and its June 2024 film announcement support that chronology.

Calling the gap “six years” counts from Legion’s 2020 launch year to 2026. It does not mean Ubisoft had promised a new game for 2026, and it does not turn Guillemot’s conditional remark into a launch announcement.

What the statement means for the series
Guillemot’s answer gives a mixed but clear signal: Ubisoft says Watch Dogs has not been prioritized against its other existing brands, yet still considers it important for the future. That leaves open the possibility of a return without establishing whether it would be a remake, a new sequel, or another kind of project. The statement does not specify a title, scope, platform, production schedule, or release date.

Ubisoft’s franchise page also says the first Watch Dogs had “more than 40 million players worldwide.” The page does not date that figure, so it should not be read as a current active-player count or a newly measured audience total.

What about the Watch Dogs film?
Ubisoft’s June 5, 2024 announcement said Tom Blyth and Sophie Wilde had been cast in a film with an original story set in the game universe, with production then expected to begin later that summer. That announcement gives no release date; it does not establish that the film has since been released. A film adaptation is separate from confirmation of a remake or new game.

The available games identified by Ubisoft are the three existing entries: Watch Dogs, Watch Dogs 2, and Watch Dogs: Legion. Ubisoft links to official listings for the titles from its franchise page. Check the listing for your region and platform before buying, since current stock, editions, and format availability are not established by the remake statement.

Ubisoft announced the first game’s worldwide release date as May 27, 2014, in a March 6, 2014 press release. Its premise introduced Aiden Pearce and the use of a smartphone to hack Chicago’s central operating system.
