No official Pokémon announcement confirms a free Mewtwo release. The 2026 anniversary announcements tease Mewtwo and describe several Mewtwo-themed trading card products, including a retail figure collection. They do not offer a free Mewtwo to claim.
What Pokémon has announced about Mewtwo
Pokémon’s franchise anniversary falls on February 27, 2026, 30 years after the Japanese release of Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green, according to The Pokémon Company’s anniversary announcement.
Separately, The Pokémon Company International announced that the Pokémon Trading Card Game is turning 30 in 2026. Its February 27 announcement promised releases throughout the year and said an anniversary video teased Mewtwo and Mew. It did not announce a free Mewtwo giveaway. Read the Pokémon TCG announcement.

What the Mewtwo figure collection includes
The confirmed Mewtwo-centered anniversary item is the Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration Figure Collection—Mew & Mewtwo. Pokémon’s official product showcase lists the Mewtwo version as a retail collection, with announced U.S. availability beginning November 6, 2026. See the official product listing.

How the figure collection compares with the booster bundle
The 30th Celebration Booster Bundle is another retail product, not a free Mewtwo offer. Its official listing says it launched October 2, 2026 and contains six booster packs.
