Webroot Mobile Security is a subscription-backed app that Webroot says can warn about scam texts, block risky websites, and check whether an email address appears in known data breaches. What it does depends on whether you use Android or iOS: Webroot describes automatic app scanning for Android, but not an equivalent full antivirus scan for iPhone.
What Webroot Mobile Security says it does
Webroot presents Mobile Security as a collection of mobile protections rather than one identical feature set across every phone. Its mobile product overview lists malicious-site protection, Android app scanning, text-scam detection, and breach monitoring. Webroot cautions that features can vary by platform and operating system.
The descriptions are Webroot’s own claims; they are not independent test results. The available product material does not establish a detection rate or show how well the app performs against real-world threats.

Webroot currently lists Text Scam Detection, and the Apple App Store listing describes SMS scam detection for its iOS app. The feature is intended to help identify suspicious texts, but Webroot’s platform-dependent feature descriptions do not establish that the experience or coverage is identical on Android and iOS.

Can it block risky websites?
Yes, Webroot describes secure browsing that can block known malicious sites. Its Android SecureWeb guide says the feature blocks malicious websites before they load and displays an alert when a site is considered risky. The iOS secure-browsing guide also describes alerts when browsing to risky sites.
This is a browsing protection feature, not a guarantee that every link or threat in every app will be blocked. Webroot’s documentation describes SecureWeb’s behavior; it does not provide independent measurements of its effectiveness.

What does breach monitoring check?
Webroot describes breach monitoring as checking whether an email address has appeared in known data breaches. The Apple listing likewise describes checking whether an email was compromised in known breaches. This is a notification or lookup feature: it does not prevent a breach, and the available descriptions do not say it monitors every type of personal information.

Subscription and device requirements
Webroot says its mobile apps are free to download but require an active Webroot antivirus subscription. Its product page lists Essentials, Premium, and Total Protection as plans that include Mobile Security. Plan details can change and may vary by region, so verify current inclusion and terms on Webroot’s site before subscribing.
Webroot’s system requirements page lists Android 11 or later and iOS 15 or later. The live Apple App Store listing may specify a higher compatibility requirement, so check the listing for your device before installing.
