You can connect a Sonos soundbar directly to Bluetooth only if it is a supported model: Sonos lists the Arc Ultra and Beam Ultra. Set the soundbar up in the Sonos app over Wi-Fi first, then put it in pairing mode and choose it in your phone, tablet, or computer’s Bluetooth settings. Other Sonos soundbar models are not identified as Bluetooth-capable in Sonos’s current support guidance.
Check whether your Sonos soundbar supports Bluetooth
Bluetooth input is model-specific, not a feature shared by every Sonos soundbar. Sonos lists Arc Ultra and Beam Ultra in its Bluetooth-capable products. If you own another model, such as a Beam Gen 1 or Gen 2, do not assume it can receive audio over Bluetooth; Sonos’s setup instructions for those models do not establish Bluetooth support. Identify your exact model and check its supported audio connections or services before trying to connect a source device.
For either supported model, initial setup with the Sonos app over Wi-Fi is required before Bluetooth pairing.
Pair a phone, tablet, or computer
Sonos Arc Ultra
- Set up Arc Ultra in the Sonos app over Wi-Fi.
- Start Bluetooth pairing using either method:
- Press and hold the Bluetooth button on the back of the soundbar; or
- In the Sonos app for iOS or Android, open Settings, select Arc Ultra, and choose Pair New Device under Bluetooth.
- Wait for a chime and a flashing blue status light.
- Open Bluetooth settings on the phone, tablet, or computer, then select Arc Ultra. A second chime and a briefly solid blue light indicate that pairing is complete.

Sonos Beam Ultra
- Set up Beam Ultra in the Sonos app over Wi-Fi.
- Start Bluetooth pairing using either method:
- Press and hold the Bluetooth button on top of the soundbar; or
- In the Sonos app for iOS or Android, open Settings, select Beam Ultra, and choose Pair New Device under Bluetooth.
- Wait for a chime and a flashing blue status light.
- Open Bluetooth settings on the phone, tablet, or computer, then select Beam Ultra. A second chime and a briefly solid blue light indicate that pairing is complete.

Reconnect a device you paired before
Select the soundbar from the source device’s saved Bluetooth devices, or press the soundbar’s Bluetooth button to resume Bluetooth mode. Both models have an optional Idle Auto-Disconnect setting that disconnects after 30 minutes of inactivity; it is off by default.

Share Bluetooth audio with other Sonos rooms
Arc Ultra and Beam Ultra can share Bluetooth audio with grouped Sonos products. The soundbar must already be connected to your Sonos system over Wi-Fi. In the Sonos app’s System view, use the grouping control beside the room playing Bluetooth audio and select the rooms to add. Keep the soundbar grouped for sharing to continue. Troubleshoot a missing soundbar or interrupted playback
- The soundbar does not appear in Bluetooth settings: Check the exact model first; Sonos identifies Arc Ultra and Beam Ultra as Bluetooth-capable soundbars. Confirm that setup over Wi-Fi in the Sonos app is complete, then start pairing mode again and wait for the flashing blue light.
- Bluetooth audio stops or skips: Sonos recommends keeping the Bluetooth source within 30 feet, but actual range varies with the environment. Microwaves, cordless phones, metal, and concrete can interfere. If streaming audio itself is interrupted, check the mobile device’s Wi-Fi or cellular data connection. - Your soundbar is not one of the two listed models: Use the audio connections or services supported by that model. Sonos’s guidance does not establish that a generic Bluetooth transmitter can add Bluetooth input to an unlisted soundbar.
