Check your TV’s exact model and software first if the app is missing: Samsung compatibility depends on the model, especially for older sets.
Check whether your Samsung TV is supported
Xfinity lists Samsung Smart TVs from 2018 to current as supported, but that does not mean every set from those years qualifies. Xfinity specifies that 2020 support applies to QLED and UHD models, and some 2018 models need particular software versions. Check the model code and software version against Xfinity’s Samsung activation instructions and its current app requirements.
Find the model code and software version
- Connect the TV to the internet.
- Press the Smart Hub button on the Smart Control remote.
- Choose Settings, then Support, and open About this TV.
- Note the model code and software version, then compare them with Xfinity’s compatibility qualifications.
Install and activate Xfinity Stream
Xfinity’s setup instructions require an internet-connected Samsung TV and already-installed Xfinity TV and Internet services. Have your Xfinity ID and password ready.
- Press the Smart Hub button to open the Samsung Home screen.
- Select Apps.
- Choose the magnifying-glass search control and search for Xfinity Stream.
- Select the app and choose Download.
- When installation finishes, choose Open.
- Follow the prompts to register the TV and sign in with your Xfinity ID and password.
If Xfinity Stream does not appear in Samsung Apps, verify the model and software before trying other fixes. Xfinity’s compatibility list is model-specific; its instructions do not guarantee the app will appear for every Samsung TV or in every region.

What you can watch in the app
Xfinity’s smart-TV navigation guide lists Live TV, Saved, Browse, Search, and Settings in the app’s main menu. Depending on the Xfinity service and your location, the app may provide live broadcast channels, linear cable channels, cloud recordings, and Video On Demand. Xfinity notes that partner devices do not include every X1 feature, so the Samsung app may not match the full X1 experience.
4K and video-quality requirements
For 4K playback on Samsung TVs, Xfinity requires Stream app version 2.2.5 or later. Its requirements page also says more than 2 GB of available memory is needed for the app to effectively deliver high video quality. These are quality and version conditions, not universal requirements for installing the app.

If your Samsung TV is unsupported
If your model is not compatible or the app is unavailable in its Apps store, Xfinity lists Amazon Fire TV among its supported Stream platforms. Check the current requirements for the specific device before buying it, and consider whether the features available on that platform meet your needs. An external streamer is unnecessary if your Samsung TV is compatible and the app is available.
