The sources available do not document a separate Extreme specification or establish that the label represents a different architecture or performance tier. MediaTek lists an 8-core, 4 nm platform with Cortex-A725 CPU cores clocked up to 3.4 GHz; 91mobiles reports an AnTuTu score of 2,217,003 and Geekbench scores of 1,759 single-core and 7,054 multi-core for its Extreme entry.
What does “Dimensity 8500 Extreme” mean?
MediaTek’s official materials identify the platform as the Dimensity 8500. The “Extreme” wording appears in listings for the Motorola Edge 70 Pro and in 91mobiles’ benchmark comparison. The reviewed sources do not show a separate MediaTek specification page for an Extreme SKU, so it is safest to treat the name as a device or listing label—not evidence by itself of a distinct chip design or performance bin.
That distinction matters when comparing phones: the chip’s platform capabilities describe what a manufacturer can implement, while the phone’s cooling, memory, software and performance settings influence real benchmark results.
Dimensity 8500 specifications
MediaTek describes the Dimensity 8500 as an energy-efficient 4 nm platform with an all-big-core CPU design. Its listed CPU configuration, cache and major platform capabilities are below. These are platform specifications and support ceilings; they do not confirm that every phone using the processor includes every feature.

MediaTek says HyperEngine can support 120 FPS gameplay in supported, optimized titles. That is a platform capability claim, not a guarantee that every game or Dimensity 8500 phone will sustain 120 FPS. Likewise, the listed display, camera, connectivity and video ceilings depend on what each phone maker implements.
What benchmark scores does the Dimensity 8500 Extreme get?
91mobiles’ benchmark comparison reports these results for its Dimensity 8500 Extreme entry, associated on the page with Motorola Edge 70 Pro 5G and Edge 70 Pro+ 5G records. The figures are publisher-reported results accessed in 2026, not guaranteed scores for every phone carrying the label.

How to interpret the scores
AnTuTu is a bundle of tests, not a single measure of speed
The 91mobiles entry breaks its AnTuTu total into CPU, GPU, memory and UX components. Those sub-scores offer more context than the aggregate, but none independently predicts how a particular game will run, how long a phone can sustain peak performance, or how quickly its battery will drain.

Geekbench results depend on the device and test setup
91mobiles reports Geekbench scores of 1,759 single-core and 7,054 multi-core for the Extreme entry. For comparison, its page reports 1,385 single-core and 4,314 multi-core for its Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 comparison entry. These are figures from the publisher’s comparison, not a controlled processor-only contest: the available data does not establish matched phones, benchmark versions, software builds, power modes, RAM configurations or cooling conditions. The difference should not be treated as a definitive chipset-only victory.
Device design shapes sustained performance
Cooling, software, RAM and power settings can affect results, particularly across longer or heavier workloads. To make a meaningful comparison, align the benchmark app and version, phone model, memory configuration, software build and performance mode; for gaming or extended workloads, also look for matched testing of heat, sustained performance and efficiency.

What does MediaTek claim about GPU performance?
In its launch announcement, published January 15, 2026, MediaTek says the Dimensity 8500’s Mali-G720 GPU delivers 25% higher peak performance and 20% lower power consumption at peak performance than the previous generation. These are manufacturer-reported comparisons, not independently validated results in the sources cited here. They should not be read as a guarantee of a 25% improvement in every game or a 20% reduction in a phone’s overall power use.

Which phone uses the Dimensity 8500 Extreme?
The Motorola Edge 70 Pro is listed with the Extreme-branded processor in the cited device and benchmark listings. The reviewed material does not establish regional availability, configuration differences or retail status for every market, so check the specification page for the exact Edge 70 Pro model sold in your region. A phone’s implementation—not just the processor name—determines its memory, display, cooling and other features.
