Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 is the clear choice if you need 5G. Qualcomm lists 5G NR support, while MediaTek lists the Helio G81 for 4G networks. Benchmark aggregates also favor the Snapdragon on CPU scores, but published AnTuTu results vary considerably by source and test method. Neither chipset guarantees a particular phone’s gaming speed or battery life: the handset’s memory, cooling, software and other components matter.

5G: Snapdragon has the practical advantage
For shoppers choosing between phones based on these platforms, the most straightforward difference is cellular connectivity: Qualcomm lists 5G NR for Snapdragon 4s Gen 2, while MediaTek’s Helio G81 specification lists 4G technologies and LTE Cat-4. A Helio G81 phone is therefore a 4G option based on the specifications cited here.
5G support in the chip does not guarantee access to 5G on every network. The specific phone must support the bands used by the carrier, and coverage and local network conditions affect service. Qualcomm’s stated peak download rate of up to 1 Gbps is theoretical, not a speed every user should expect. One phone identified with Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 is the Xiaomi Redmi A4 5G; regional configurations and availability should be checked with the seller.
CPU and graphics: what the specifications suggest
CPU architecture
Qualcomm specifies a 64-bit Kryo CPU running up to 2 GHz. NanoReview’s architecture summary identifies a 2+6 layout of Cortex-A78 and Cortex-A55 cores. MediaTek lists two Cortex-A75 performance cores and six Cortex-A55 cores for the Helio G81. The A78 and A75 labels indicate different core designs, but core names and clock figures alone do not establish how quickly a finished phone will handle an app or task.

Graphics
MediaTek specifies a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU with a maximum clock of 820 MHz. Qualcomm’s product page names Adreno graphics but does not show the GPU model in the material cited here; NanoReview identifies it as Adreno 611. These specifications are not a controlled gaming comparison. Game performance depends on the phone’s implementation, including cooling, drivers and software, as well as the game and its settings.
Other platform capabilities
The storage figures describe platform support, not a promise that every phone uses the fastest supported option. Qualcomm lists UFS 3.1; MediaTek lists eMMC 5.1, while NanoReview additionally lists UFS 2.1 for G81 without confirmation on the manufacturer page consulted. The phone maker’s actual RAM and storage configuration can affect loading and responsiveness.

| Benchmark and source | Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 | Helio G81 | What the figures indicate |
|---|---|---|---|
| AnTuTu 11, NanoReview (2026 snapshot) | 506,757 | 358,608 | NanoReview’s aggregate favors Snapdragon. Its comparison displayed only two Snapdragon tests versus 43 Helio tests. |
| Geekbench 6 single-core, NanoReview (2026 snapshot) | 838 | 432 | Higher Snapdragon aggregate; fewer than three Snapdragon phones were shown, versus 11 Helio tests. |
| Geekbench 6 multi-core, NanoReview (2026 snapshot) | 1,899 | 1,416 | Higher Snapdragon aggregate, with the same small Snapdragon sample caveat. |
| PCMark 3.0, NanoReview (2026 snapshot) | 8,594 | 8,824 | A close result favoring Helio; fewer than three Snapdragon phones were tested, versus 12 Helio phones. |
| AnTuTu, 91mobiles (2026 snapshot) | 381,047, the highest result it recorded for a Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 phone | 371,151 in its comparison dataset | A much closer device-level comparison than NanoReview’s AnTuTu 11 figures; it uses a different dataset and method. |
The AnTuTu numbers deserve particular care: NanoReview labels its comparison AnTuTu 11, while 91mobiles reports handset-level results from a separate dataset. The 91mobiles figure for Snapdragon is described as the highest result it recorded for a phone using that chip, not as a universal chipset score. Differences in benchmark version, phones and database methodology help explain why the totals are not directly comparable.
Overall, NanoReview’s reported Geekbench results favor Snapdragon for CPU workloads, but its Snapdragon sample is very small. PCMark is nearly even and slightly favors Helio in that dataset. The figures do not establish a guaranteed everyday speed advantage, a universal gaming winner or a battery-life winner.

Which chipset should you choose?
- Choose a Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 phone if 5G is important. The platform lists 5G NR; still verify that the handset supports your carrier’s bands and that service is available where you use it.
- Consider a Helio G81 phone if a 4G handset meets your needs. MediaTek lists an octa-core CPU, Mali-G52 MC2 graphics and HyperEngine gaming features, but those specifications alone do not predict game performance.
- Compare the actual phones, not just the chip names. RAM, storage type and capacity, cooling, display, battery, software support and price can matter more to your experience than the chipset comparison. Check each model’s exact configuration and regional listing.
