To use it, check that your exact model supports wireless charging, connect a compatible charger to power, and place the phone’s back centrally on the pad or stand.
How does Samsung wireless charging work?
A Qi wireless charger has a transmitter coil; a compatible phone has a receiver coil. Alternating current in the charger’s coil creates a changing magnetic field, which induces voltage in the phone’s receiver coil. The phone’s charging circuitry then uses that energy to charge its battery. The Wireless Power Consortium describes the process as magnetic induction and says the phone and charging station also exchange control signals (Wireless Power Consortium: How Qi Works).
This is not radio charging over a room-sized distance. The coils must be close enough and positioned so their magnetic fields couple effectively. The Wireless Power Consortium explains that distance and coil geometry affect energy transfer (Principle of Inductive Power).
Does your Samsung phone support wireless charging?
No single Samsung device list applies worldwide or to every model year. Samsung’s U.S. support guidance names supported Galaxy S, Note, and Z models, and identifies Galaxy A, XCover, and Tab families as incompatible with wireless charging; check the specific model against Samsung’s current regional support information before buying a charger (Samsung U.S. wireless charging and PowerShare guidance; Samsung U.S. charging compatibility guidance).

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Model, software, carrier, and market can affect which features are available. Confirm wireless charging for the exact device rather than assuming that a Galaxy phone—or a device in a particular series—supports it. Samsung also states that charging speed and power vary by device, so a charger’s advertised maximum is not a promise of the speed a particular Galaxy will reach.
How to charge a Galaxy phone on a wireless charger
- Check that your exact Galaxy model supports wireless charging and that the charger supports the mode you want.
- Connect the charger’s cable to the pad or stand, then connect the adapter to a power outlet. Use the power supply and cable specified for that charger; Samsung recommends using the supplied cable and adapter with its chargers.
- Place the phone back-down on the pad, centered over the charging area. Samsung recommends that the phone’s back contact the charger. Close a foldable phone before charging.
- Look for the phone’s charging indicator. Fast wireless charging activates automatically when both the device and charger support it.
Why won’t your Galaxy charge on a wireless charger?
Work through the basic checks before assuming that the phone or pad is defective:

- Verify model support. Wireless charging is not available on every Samsung phone or tablet.
- Reposition the phone. Center it on the pad or adjust its position on a stand so the coils align.
- Check the space between the devices. Remove a thick case or any cover or accessory that may prevent close contact or interfere with alignment.
- Check the power connection. Make sure the pad’s cable and wall adapter are connected, and use the power supply specified for the charger.
- Verify charger certification and mode. Samsung says fast wireless charging requires devices certified by Samsung and the Wireless Power Consortium. A generic “fast” label alone does not establish certification or compatibility with a Samsung fast-charging mode.
Samsung’s troubleshooting guidance discusses Qi2-certified covers and MPP chargers for particular third-party cover and magnetic-alignment situations, and mentions charging up to 15W in that context. That figure is not a universal Galaxy charging speed; check the phone, cover, and charger specifications together (Samsung U.S. charging troubleshooting).
Do you need to remove your phone case?
Not always. A thin, compatible case may allow charging, but Samsung notes that a thick case may need to be removed. A case or accessory can also obstruct the connection or prevent the coils from aligning. If charging is intermittent, try the phone without the case and reposition it before investigating other causes.

For a magnetic case or charger, check compatibility with your exact Galaxy model and the accessory’s certification. Samsung’s Qi2 and MPP advice applies to the specified third-party cover and alignment context, not to every phone-and-accessory combination.
What to check when choosing a wireless charger
Choose a Qi-compatible pad or stand, but do not assume every Qi product delivers Samsung fast wireless charging. Compare the charger against your device and intended setup:

Some supported Galaxy phones include Wireless PowerShare, a separate feature that lets the phone share its battery wirelessly with compatible devices, such as compatible earbuds or another phone. Availability and setup vary by model and market. Samsung’s India support instructions say the sharing phone must have at least 30% battery to turn the feature on; treat this as the stated activation threshold for that guidance, not a general wireless-charging requirement (Samsung India: Wireless PowerShare instructions).

- Turn on Wireless PowerShare from Quick Settings or the phone’s Battery settings, depending on the model.
- Place the two devices back-to-back, then adjust them until their coils align and the receiving device begins charging.
- Keep the devices still while power is being shared. Remove cases or accessories that obstruct the connection.
Samsung cautions that PowerShare may affect call reception or data services depending on network conditions. It is a way to share available battery power, not a substitute for an ordinary dedicated charger.
