For a Linux-native approach to Player, Cordial is the closest dedicated alternative listed. Waydroid is worth considering if the mobile version is sufficient for the experiences you play. A Windows VM is an option if you need the Windows client and are prepared to configure virtualization.
Cordial: a dedicated experimental runtime
Cordial’s maintainers describe it as a way to run Roblox’s Android build on Linux without Wine, an Android emulator, a container, or a virtual machine. Its README lists sign-in, keyboard and mouse input, audio, voice chat, fullscreen, and joining public and private servers as working features. Treat that list as the project’s own status report rather than a guarantee that each feature will work on your setup.
The project supports Linux x86-64 and documents Flatpak and platform-package distribution options. Its ARM64 support is described as new and untested on real ARM64 hardware. Cordial requires a Roblox Android build; consult the current Cordial instructions for how it obtains or reuses one. Avoid downloading APKs from untrusted sources.

Waydroid: use the mobile version in an Android environment
VinegarHQ lists Waydroid as a way to use Roblox’s mobile version on x86 Linux. Because this route uses the Android build, it cannot provide experiences that are desktop-only. Compatibility also depends on the system, so the documentation does not establish that a particular Linux distribution or configuration will work.
Windows virtual machine: run the Windows client
A Windows VM is a separate route from Linux runtimes and Android environments: it runs Windows so you can use Roblox Player for Windows. VinegarHQ notes that virtualization setup and GPU passthrough may be involved. The source does not establish a simple configuration or guarantee that the client will work well in every VM, so treat this as a more hands-on option.

Vinegar is for Roblox Studio, not Player
Vinegar is a Linux bootstrapper for Roblox Studio, not a replacement for Roblox Player. Its installation requirements apply to Studio through Vinegar only: the project lists an x86-64/AMD64 processor, 3 GB of RAM, and graphics capable of OpenGL 4.4 as baseline requirements, with higher recommendations. Those specifications should not be used to judge Cordial, Waydroid, or Sober. See VinegarHQ’s documentation for its current Studio instructions.
Check Sober’s requirements before switching
If you are comparing alternatives because Sober will not run, check its current requirements first. Sober’s installation documentation lists Linux kernel 5.11 or newer, an x86-64/AMD64 CPU with SSE4.1, and OpenGL ES 3.0 capability. It recommends SSE4.2 and Vulkan 1.1; the documentation says SSE4.2 can be emulated on a processor that supports only SSE4.1, with a performance impact. Requirements and compatibility details can change, so confirm them in the Sober installation documentation.

Support and reliability caveats
Sober’s publisher describes it as experimental and says Roblox does not support it; the project site characterizes it as “a passion project rather than production-grade code.” The available documentation likewise does not establish Roblox approval for Cordial, Waydroid, or a Windows VM workaround. Project feature lists and installation guidance are not independent evidence of long-term stability or comparative performance. Check the relevant project documentation for current compatibility before installing or troubleshooting.
