The figures are attributed reporting, not verified output or sales totals. Yield concerns production efficiency; a target for units ready is not the same measure as yield or units shipped. The article also reported that preorders would begin October 16, 2026, describing that schedule as a little over two weeks away at publication. What the AirPods 5 teardown found
In its September 29 summary of an iFixit teardown, 9to5Mac described a modest change rather than a repairability breakthrough. The batteries in each earbud could reportedly be removed and replaced without necessarily destroying the earbuds, but the teardown coverage still characterized the product as difficult to repair.

- Left and right parts: The batteries are not interchangeable between the two earbuds.
- Beyond the battery: Further earbud disassembly remains destructive.

How DoorDash ordering in Apple Messages was described
A September 30 9to5Mac report said DoorDash introduced ordering through Apple Messages in the United States, with interested users joining a waitlist.
