A September 2026 promotion lists Microsoft Office Home & Business 2021 for Mac at $89.97 as a one-time purchase. The license is described as lifetime use on one Mac, so there is no Microsoft 365-style annual renewal for the desktop apps included in this offer. Check the edition and redemption terms carefully: a separate Office 2024 promotion used the same price in June.
What the $89.97 offer actually is
The September 2026 Macworld DealPost listings describe Office Home & Business 2021 for Mac, sold through the StackSocial/StackCommerce deal channel, for $89.97. The pages cite a $219 reference MSRP and present the purchase as a one-time license rather than a recurring subscription. Deal pricing and availability can change.
“Lifetime” here means continued use of the licensed Office 2021 release on the authorized Mac. It does not mean free access to every future major Office version. The cited listings do not establish a future-version upgrade entitlement, so treat upgrades as a separate question.

How the license works on a Mac
One-Mac scope
The offer is advertised for use on one Mac. That is materially different from a household or multi-device Microsoft 365 plan. If you need Office on several Macs or on both Mac and Windows computers, confirm the product’s device terms before paying.
Microsoft-account association
The code is described as being redeemed to a Microsoft account rather than permanently locked only to the original hardware. Keep control of that account and its sign-in details; they are part of managing the license.

Office 2021 versus the similarly priced Office 2024 deal
Do not assume every $89.97 headline refers to the same product. A separate Yahoo Tech/Mashable promotion in June 2026 advertised Office Home & Business 2024 for Mac or PC at $89.97 against a stated $249.99 regular price. That is a different edition and platform scope from the September Mac offer.

One-time Office versus Microsoft 365
The core trade-off is payment model. This deal charges once for a single-edition license on one Mac. The syndicated June promotion cited Microsoft 365 at $99.99 per year as a comparison figure. A subscription can make sense when you need multiple devices, ongoing feature updates or bundled cloud services; the one-time Office purchase is aimed at someone who wants the listed desktop applications without an annual renewal.

- Consider Microsoft 365 if you need several devices, subscription cloud storage, Copilot-related benefits or continuing feature updates.

What to check before buying
- Confirm that the product name says Office Home & Business 2021 for Mac, not the separate 2024 promotion.
- Verify that the offer is for one Mac and that this matches your device count.
- Make sure you can redeem the code within seven days.
- Check that you will install it directly on macOS rather than inside a virtual machine such as Parallels Pro.
- Review the seller’s current refund, support and delivery terms; deal pages and prices may change.
- Keep the Microsoft account used for redemption accessible after installation.
Is the $89.97 license legitimate?
The September 2026 listings present it as a promotional Office Home & Business 2021 license, not as a Microsoft 365 subscription. That description supports the one-time-purchase model, but a headline alone does not guarantee that the live offer remains available or that its terms have not changed. The safest check is the product edition, redemption deadline, device limit and seller terms shown at the moment of checkout. No current Amazon listing or live checkout state was established in the cited coverage.
