That rounds to 81%, but it describes a share of qualifying Steam reviews—not a poll showing that 81% of all AION 2 players approve of the game.

A review-based percentage is not the same as an all-player approval survey. It excludes players who did not submit a Steam review, and the 10-hour threshold excludes reviewers with less time in the game. It also says nothing directly about players who use another platform.
How the review groups compare
Inven Global’s October 6 tally reported different positive shares for three Steam review groups. Their denominators and playtime criteria matter when comparing the percentages:

These are overlapping groups, not three independent polls. The higher percentages among reviews from people with more playtime do not establish that additional playtime caused a more favorable opinion. Players who stay longer and choose to review may differ from other players in several ways.
Why early access matters to the 10-hour group
Inven Global said 85% of reviews in the 10-or-more-hours group were written during early access. The 80.8% figure therefore largely reflects reviews submitted before the official release, rather than a sample composed mostly of post-launch experiences.
The report also described changes in review sentiment by time posted after official launch: 39.6% of reviews in the first three hours were positive, compared with 59.2% in the 15-to-18-hour window. Those figures refer to reviews posted in particular time windows; they are not the same as the playtime-threshold groups in the table.

The report attributed Steam concurrency figures to SteamDB: 203,803 concurrent players at 4:00 p.m. on October 6, roughly 13 hours after a reported peak of 397,905. It also cited an earlier early-access Steam peak of 171,530 on September 30. These are time-specific concurrent-player counts, not review totals or a measure of unique players.

Inven Global separately attributed a peak above 400,000 concurrent players across Steam and NC’s PURPLE platform to NC. That combined figure has a broader platform scope than the Steam-only numbers, so it should not be treated as a Steam count. The report also cited a SteamDB-attributed Twitch peak concurrent viewership of 261,602, with 90,536 viewers at 4:00 p.m. on October 6; viewership is a separate measure from players.

In its account of player reactions, Inven Global highlighted customization and aerial combat as praised features. It also noted concerns about monetization, particularly cosmetics and battle passes. These are themes summarized by the report, not quantified survey findings, and the figures provided do not show how common either reaction was.
What to take away
As reported on October 6, 2026, about four in five Steam reviews from users with at least 10 hours in AION 2 were positive. The all-review Steam share in the same tally was lower, at 69%.
