A 75-year-old Thane resident, Gopalakrishna Subbaiya Pillai, died during treatment at Sushrusha Hospital after reporting chest pain at a Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park, according to news reports citing police. According to those reports, Pillai’s friend and police personnel came to his aid. A doctor at the venue gave him preliminary treatment, and he was taken to Sushrusha Hospital, where he died during treatment.

Police told news outlets that doctors attributed Pillai’s death to a heart attack. This is a reported police account of what doctors said, rather than a conclusion independently confirmed here from medical records or a direct statement by the treating doctor.
