The right Android app depends on what you’re selling and whether it’s going to a nearby buyer or being shipped. For bulky local sales, start with Facebook Marketplace or OfferUp; for broad categories and searchable collectibles, consider eBay or Mercari; for clothing, look at Poshmark or Depop. Craigslist is another local-classified option, but Android availability for its phone app has not been independently confirmed here.

How to choose an app for buying or selling
- Decide how the item will be handed over. Local pickup can suit furniture and other awkward-to-ship goods. Shipped sales require packing and may involve platform, payment, or shipping charges.
- Match the category to the audience. Broad marketplaces can help with searchable goods; fashion-focused platforms are a more natural fit for clothes and accessories.
- Estimate what you’ll actually receive. Compare the app’s current fees for your category and sale price, plus any shipping-related costs. A low or absent commission does not necessarily mean there are no other charges.
- Check the transaction workflow. Local sales may depend on messaging and arranging a meeting; shipped sales may involve platform labels and packing.
- Confirm access in your country. Android app availability and terms can differ by region. Marketplace is accessed inside the Facebook app; Craigslist’s Android Play listing was not verified for this comparison.
Company-reported audience figures can give a sense of scale, but they do not establish how quickly a particular listing will sell or whether a buyer will find it.

Facebook Marketplace: local sales and bulky items
Consider Facebook Marketplace for furniture, fitness equipment, televisions, and other items that are inconvenient to ship. Marketplace is part of the main Facebook app rather than a separate dedicated app; buyers and sellers can communicate through Messenger. Facebook on Google Play

OfferUp: local-first secondhand listings
OfferUp is a mobile marketplace for nearby sales, with categories including furniture, clothing, phones, electronics, and cars. Craigslist: direct arrangements for local classifieds
Craigslist can suit local listings when buyer and seller are prepared to arrange payment and fulfillment directly. Shopify describes it as having a phone app and says most posts have no selling fee, with exceptions for some categories. This comparison did not independently verify a Craigslist Android listing, so check Google Play access in your region. Do not assume the transaction includes integrated shipping or managed payment. eBay: broad categories and searchable niche goods
eBay is a strong option to consider for varied goods such as antiques, collectibles, and electronics, especially when model numbers or specific features help buyers find an item. Mercari: casual resale across general categories
Mercari is a broad-goods option for casual resale of household items, clothing, electronics, and other goods. Poshmark is oriented toward secondhand apparel and accessories. Shopify says the service issues printable shipping labels after a sale. Depop is associated especially with vintage clothing and streetwear, using social storefronts and offering international shipping options, according to Shopify’s guide.
