For U.S. buyers, five Samsung models belong on an unlocked-phone shortlist: Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Ultra, Galaxy S26 FE, Galaxy Z Flip8 and Galaxy Z Fold8. But the available information does not support calling them five verified winners: current unlocked prices and comparable specifications are established for only part of the group. Treat the list below as candidates to check, not a tested ranking.
Which unlocked Samsung phones should you compare?
Samsung U.S. listings and its March 2026 MSRP sheet establish some details for the S26 models. Samsung’s U.S. catalog identifies the FE and Flip8 families, while Tom’s Guide published a Fold8 review on September 30, 2026. The evidence does not provide a consistent set of live prices and specifications across all five.

How to choose among the five
Choose a conventional phone shape or a foldable
If you want a conventional phone, compare the S26, S26 Ultra and S26 FE. If you specifically want a foldable, compare the Z Flip8 and Z Fold8: the Flip is the compact flip-style option, while the Fold is the book-style option. Confirm the current listing and exact configuration before deciding; the available information does not establish a complete, like-for-like comparison of screen dimensions, weight or other specifications.

The S26 listing’s 2026 page prices and the Ultra’s March 2026 MSRP are different kinds of figures, and neither should be treated as a guaranteed price today. Check the price for the exact unlocked storage configuration you intend to buy. Current comparable prices for the FE, Flip8 and Fold8 are not established here, so there is not enough evidence to name a verified lowest-cost choice.

Match the phone to the features you care about
Before choosing, compare the current U.S. product listings for camera capabilities, battery and charging, software-support commitment, dimensions and weight, and storage. Those factors are not documented consistently enough across these five candidates to declare an overall camera, battery or value winner.
What does “unlocked” mean for your carrier?
An unlocked listing does not by itself establish that a specific phone configuration will work with your carrier. Before ordering, ask the carrier to confirm compatibility for the exact model and check its supported bands and eSIM support. Do this for the precise U.S. configuration being sold, rather than relying only on the phone-family name.

What else should you check before checkout?
- Confirm the listing: make sure the seller identifies the phone as unlocked and the configuration matches the U.S. model you intend to use.
- Check storage and price: compare the exact capacity and current price, including any offer conditions, before treating one model as a better buy.
- Plan for charging: Samsung says the Galaxy S26 does not include a charger. If you need one, confirm the specific phone’s supported charging standards and power before buying an accessory.
- Verify return terms: check the seller’s return policy in case carrier compatibility or the phone’s size and form factor do not suit you.
