The best 18V leaf blower for you is usually the one that fits the battery platform you already own and the kind of cleanup you actually do. For moving larger amounts of leaves, Milwaukee’s M18 FUEL 3017-20 and Makita’s LXT XBU03Z publish the highest airflow-volume figures among these picks. RYOBI’s PCLLB01B is aimed at light cleanup, while Bosch’s GBL18V-71N is a compact, focused blower—not a substitute for a high-volume yard blower.
The specifications below come from U.S. manufacturer pages reviewed October 2, 2026. They are maker-published figures, not results from a shared independent test; maximum CFM, MPH, force, weight, and runtime may be determined under different conditions.
How these 18V leaf blowers compare
These models serve different tasks, so the list is organized by role rather than ranked from best to worst. CFM describes stated air volume; MPH describes stated air velocity. Neither number alone tells the whole story: the Bosch, for example, has a high published MPH figure but much lower CFM than the yard-cleanup options.

Best suited to focused cleanup rather than broad leaf clearing. |

Best for higher-volume yard cleanup: Milwaukee M18 FUEL 3017-20
Milwaukee publishes 500 CFM, 120 MPH, and 12.2 N for the 3017-20, the highest stated CFM and force among these five models. The company says the blower is optimized for M18 High Output batteries and reaches full throttle in under one second, making it a fit for quick, routine cleanup when you already use the M18 system.
Milwaukee lists a 54 dB(A) rating and describes the model as “Up To 40% Quieter than the competition.” Both the rating and comparison are Milwaukee’s claims; the cited page does not establish a common test basis for comparing it with every other blower. Its FAQ says all M18 batteries work, while High Output or larger batteries are recommended for peak performance and runtime. Milwaukee also offers compatible nozzle and gutter attachments separately.
Best higher-volume Makita LXT option: XBU03Z
The XBU03Z is a higher-volume choice for an existing 18V LXT battery owner. Makita publishes 459 CFM and 116 MPH, with a variable-speed trigger and cruise-control lever for adjusting airflow. The manufacturer lists 4.6 lb without a battery and 6 lb with a battery; keep those conditions attached when comparing it with other tools.

- Variable speed control by trigger
- 3 air volume settings: Low, Medium, High
- Vacuum function - can be used as a vacuum with a dust bag. Increased air volume.
- Compact and lightweight design and Ergonomic soft grip
- Equipped with Battery protection circuit: designed to protect the battery from damages due to overdischarge, high temperature or overload current.
Makita rates the blower at 60 dB(A) sound pressure under ANSI B175.2 and lists the XBU03Z as tool-only. Check the exact retailer listing if you need a battery and charger.
Best lighter M18 option: Milwaukee M18 Brushless 3044-20
Milwaukee lists 450 CFM, 120 MPH, and 11 N for the 3044-20, with a 4.4 lb tool-only weight. It includes variable-speed control and a full-throttle lock-on, which can reduce the need to hold the trigger continuously during longer clearing tasks.
Milwaukee estimates about 12 minutes at full throttle with a 6.0Ah battery and about 24 minutes with a 12.0Ah battery. Those are manufacturer estimates tied to full throttle and the specified battery capacities, not a common runtime test against the other models. The blower is sold as a bare tool, and Milwaukee says it does not accept its existing blower attachments.

Best for light applications and dry leaves: RYOBI PCLLB01B
RYOBI describes the PCLLB01B as suitable for “light applications, hard surfaces, and dry leaves.” Its published output is 350 CFM and 100 MPH. RYOBI reports 70 minutes of runtime using an 18V ONE+ 4Ah battery; the page’s figure is specific to that battery, not a universal runtime guarantee across the platform.
The blower is part of the 18V ONE+ system, and RYOBI says any ONE+ 18V battery works with any ONE+ 18V product. The product page lists both tool-only and kit purchase options, so check the chosen listing to see whether it includes a battery and charger.
Best for focused cleanup: Bosch GBL18V-71N
Bosch lists 71 CFM and 167 MPH for the GBL18V-71N. The contrast illustrates why MPH should not be used as a stand-in for air volume: its velocity figure is high, but its CFM is far below the models intended for moving larger amounts of leaves. Consider it for targeted cleanup where its standard, extension, small-diameter, or debris-collection nozzle is useful, rather than as a primary full-yard leaf blower.

Bosch estimates eight minutes per amp-hour on low and 3.5 minutes per amp-hour on high. Its listed 2.4 lb weight is not clearly qualified by battery status in the cited technical data, so it should not be compared directly with tool-only or battery-included weights until that condition is confirmed. Bosch describes AMPShare compatibility for supported 18V products; that does not mean its batteries are interchangeable with every other brand’s 18V platform.

Start with the battery system you own
Milwaukee M18, Makita 18V LXT, RYOBI 18V ONE+, and Bosch 18V/AMPShare are separate battery ecosystems. Do not assume a battery from one brand fits another. If you are starting from scratch, account for the battery and charger as part of the tool’s total package; the product name alone does not tell you what a retailer bundle includes.

Match airflow to the job
- For higher stated air volume among these picks, compare the Milwaukee 3017-20 and Makita XBU03Z.
- For routine cleanup on M18, the 3044-20 is a lower-weight tool-only option by Milwaukee’s stated figure.
- For dry leaves and hard surfaces in lighter applications, RYOBI explicitly positions the PCLLB01B for that work.
- For narrow, targeted tasks that benefit from interchangeable nozzle types, consider Bosch’s GBL18V-71N; its low CFM makes it a different class of cleanup tool from the higher-volume models.
Manufacturer pages do not establish a maximum yard size or a common leaf-load capacity for these models, so match the tool to your cleanup needs rather than treating any one specification as a guarantee of area covered.

Compare runtime and weight on equal terms
Runtime figures here are not directly comparable: Milwaukee’s 3044-20 estimate specifies full throttle and battery capacity, Bosch gives minutes per amp-hour by speed, and RYOBI reports a figure with a 4Ah battery. Speed setting, battery capacity, and task affect actual use. Weight also needs a consistent basis: compare tool-only with tool-only or complete blower with complete blower, and confirm whether the battery is included when the manufacturer page is unclear.
Check the package before buying
Makita’s XBU03Z is listed tool-only and Milwaukee’s 3044-20 is sold as a bare tool. RYOBI offers tool-only and kit variants. Verify the exact listing’s battery and charger contents, since package options can differ and change.
