These five Makita tools use two 18V LXT batteries together to power a 36V (18V X2) tool: a rear-handle circular saw, blower, right-angle drill, reciprocating saw and pole saw. The figures below are specifications published by Makita USA, not results from independent or hands-on testing.
What “two 18V batteries” means
Makita describes this platform as 36V (18V X2) LXT. The cited product pages specify a configuration of two 18V LXT Lithium-Ion batteries, used together to power the tool. That is different from a tool that runs on just one 18V battery.
Makita’s XSR01PT page says the setup is “Powered by two LXT® batteries; X2 LXT® technology delivers more power, speed and run time without the hassles of a cord”. That is Makita product marketing, not an independent performance finding. Battery compatibility notes on the cited pages concern Makita 18V LXT batteries and specify Star symbol compatibility. Check the current tool instructions and Makita compatibility information before combining batteries and tools from different generations.
Five Makita tools that use two 18V batteries
1. XSR01PT rear-handle circular saw
For cutting lumber and sheet material, the XSR01PT is a 7-1/4-inch brushless rear-handle circular saw. Makita lists a 5,100 RPM no-load speed and a maximum cutting depth of 2-9/16 inches at 90 degrees. Its listed weight is 12.4 lb with battery. The XSR01PT kit page specifies two 5.0Ah batteries and a dual-port charger. See Makita’s XSR01PT product details.
#1 Best Overall
- No gas, emissions, oil mixing or pull starts
- BL Brushless Motor delivers up to 9,700 RPM
- Lever style lock system allows for quick tool-less installation and replacement of attachments
- High/Low speed button for power and run time management
- Variable speed trigger for controlled speed
2. XBU02PT blower
The XBU02PT is a brushless blower for moving leaves and other debris. Makita lists maximum air volume of 473 CFM and maximum air velocity of 120 MPH; its stated weight is 9 lb with battery. The kit page lists two 5.0Ah batteries and a dual-port charger. These are manufacturer specifications, not a comparison with other blowers under shared test conditions. See Makita’s XBU02PT product details.
3. XAD04PT right-angle drill
For drilling larger holes where a conventional drill may not fit, the brushless XAD04PT has a 7/16-inch hex chuck and two speed ranges: 0–350 and 0–1,400 RPM. Makita lists capacity up to 6-1/4 inches with a hole saw and 4-5/8 inches with a self-feed bit. The listed weight is 13.1 lb with battery. Its PT kit listing includes two 5.0Ah batteries and a dual-port charger. See Makita’s XAD04PT product details.

Check the kit contents before buying
The cited model numbers ending in PT or PTB are kit listings, and the five pages list two 5.0Ah batteries and a dual-port charger. Makita also offers tool-only models with Z designations, so don’t assume a bare tool includes batteries or a charger. Confirm the contents on the exact SKU’s current listing before purchase; the kit contents described here apply to the cited US product pages.
