The JBL PartyBox 720 is RTINGS’ loudest Bluetooth speaker pick in its 2026 guide, with a reported maximum of 114 dB. But there is no single best choice for every buyer: these five recommendations cover different price and event-use tiers, while a separate portable pick suits people who need to carry their speaker. Compare loudness alongside sound quality at high volume, listening coverage, battery life, inputs and portability—not just the biggest decibel claim.
How to compare loud Bluetooth speakers
Maximum loudness is only one part of the decision. RTINGS’ guide notes that compression at maximum volume can reduce clarity as you turn a speaker up. Larger enclosures and drivers generally support louder output and deeper bass, but can be less convenient to move. A speaker’s off-axis coverage also matters: the PartyBox 720’s forward-facing output, for example, creates a narrower sweet spot, so listeners in different positions may not hear it evenly.
- Maximum output and clarity: Consider whether the sound remains clean when played loudly, not just its peak level.
- Coverage: Think about where the audience will stand and whether sound needs to spread to the sides or rear.
- Battery at your usual volume: Published runtime figures are not necessarily measured at maximum volume; playing louder can shorten battery life.
- Event features: Microphone and instrument inputs matter for karaoke, announcements or live performance.
- Size and carrying: A party speaker suited to a yard may be a poor fit for regular transport.
The figures below are reported in RTINGS’ 2026 loud-speaker guide, except where a manufacturer rating is explicitly identified. They are recommendations across useful tiers, not a precise first-to-fifth overall ranking. The available sources do not establish that RTINGS’ tested SPL figures and SOUNDBOKS’ manufacturer-rated maximum use aligned test methods, so those numbers should not be compared as if they were measured identically.
Five loud Bluetooth speakers across useful tiers
1. JBL PartyBox 720: the loudest pick for big gatherings
RTINGS reports a maximum of 114 dB for the JBL PartyBox 720, making it the loudest pick in its 2026 guide. It can run on battery for nearly 14 hours, according to RTINGS, and can be plugged into AC for a little extra volume. Its bass emphasis and high output suit large parties, but the forward-facing design has a narrower sweet spot than an all-around speaker. Consider where you can position it so the audience is in front of it.

2. SOUNDBOKS Mix: a smaller, lighter high-output option
The SOUNDBOKS Mix is a size-and-loudness compromise, with just over 110 dB SPL and 18 hours of battery life in RTINGS’ 2026 guide. Compared with the larger PartyBox 720, it has fewer microphone and instrument inputs and less deep bass. It is worth considering if you want strong output without choosing the largest party-speaker option.

3. JBL PartyBox Club 120: a yard-party and karaoke choice
RTINGS describes the PartyBox Club 120 as less loud than the SOUNDBOKS Mix, but still plenty loud for a yard party. It has two microphone or instrument inputs and a replaceable battery option; RTINGS lists a 10-hour battery life. Those event-friendly features make it a practical middle-tier choice when karaoke or live input matters more than reaching the highest output.

4. LG xboom Stage 301: lighter with balanced tuning
The LG xboom Stage 301 is a lighter lower-mid-range pick with balanced tuning. RTINGS reports more than 14 hours from its hot-swappable battery and says it has one microphone or instrument input. The PartyBox Club 120 has two such inputs, so choose the JBL if you need to connect more than one source at once.

5. Klipsch GIG XXL: budget output, with a shorter battery life
RTINGS’ guide describes the Klipsch GIG XXL as under $100 and somewhat louder than the Stage 301. It includes a wired microphone and echo or reverb control, but RTINGS reports just under six hours of battery life. It also lacks app tuning. That makes it a budget-minded option for shorter events where its mic features are useful and extended untethered playback is not essential.

If portability matters more than party-speaker output
JBL Boombox 4: the portable pick
For buyers who expect to carry a speaker, RTINGS names the JBL Boombox 4 its loudest portable pick, reporting 108 dB SPL and up to 40 hours of battery life. It has a removable battery and dust and water protection, but no microphone or instrument inputs. Its lower reported output than the PartyBox 720 reflects a different use case: portability rather than maximum party-speaker volume.
See RTINGS’ loud-speaker guide for the JBL Boombox 4.
Why a manufacturer’s decibel rating may not settle the choice
SOUNDBOKS lists a maximum of 126 dB SPL for the SOUNDBOKS 4 on its product specification page. That is a manufacturer-published rating; the available information does not establish that it uses the same test method as RTINGS’ figures. It should not be treated as proof that the speaker is louder than a model with an RTINGS-reported result of 114 dB.
SOUNDBOKS also states that the SOUNDBOKS 4 can run for about six hours at full volume and up to 40 hours at mid-volume. The range illustrates why battery claims need a listening-volume context; the maximum-volume figure is the more relevant one if you plan to play very loudly.
Quick Recap
Check SOUNDBOKS’ SOUNDBOKS 4 specifications.
Choose by the way you will use it
- For the highest output among these picks: Start with the JBL PartyBox 720, and account for its more directional coverage.
- For a smaller high-output event speaker: Consider the SOUNDBOKS Mix, accepting fewer event inputs and less deep bass than the PartyBox 720.
- For yard parties or karaoke: The PartyBox Club 120 offers two inputs; the lighter Stage 301 offers balanced tuning and a hot-swappable battery but only one input.
- For a budget option: The Klipsch GIG XXL trades longer battery life and app tuning for a lower-cost volume-focused choice.
- For frequent carrying: The Boombox 4 is the portable alternative, with a removable battery and no mic or instrument inputs.
