The right FPS monitor is the one that pairs a useful refresh rate with a resolution and panel your gaming PC can drive. These five examples are use-case picks, not an independently tested ranking: choose based on the games you play, the frame rates your system can sustain, and the trade-offs you accept.
Start with the frame rate your PC can sustain
A monitor’s maximum refresh rate is not a promise that your games will run at that frame rate. Dell advises matching the display’s refresh target to the GPU’s output; high-refresh 4K in particular demands a powerful graphics card. If your PC cannot regularly produce very high frame rates, a lower-refresh monitor at a sharper resolution may be a better fit.
Resolution changes the workload and the feel of play. Full HD (1080p) is a common competitive-FPS choice because it is less demanding to render at high frame rates. QHD (1440p) balances additional sharpness with a smaller performance burden than 4K. 4K provides more detail but is harder to drive at high refresh rates. These are general trade-offs, not guarantees of performance on a particular PC; the exact result depends on the GPU, game, and settings.
Five FPS monitor picks by use case
The models below are examples supported by manufacturer guidance or product listings, not a ranked or independently tested top five. Check the current regional product page for the exact SKU and specifications before buying.

1. Alienware AW2524HF: prioritize high-refresh esports play
Dell describes the AW2524HF as a 24.5-inch, 1080p fast IPS monitor that overclocks to 500Hz, aimed at esports games including Valorant, Counter-Strike 2, and Overwatch 2. Its Full HD resolution and small size suit players prioritizing high frame rates and a compact competitive view. You need a PC capable of producing very high frame rates to make full use of 500Hz; the overclocked figure is not the same as a guaranteed in-game frame rate.
2. Alienware AW2725DF: QHD QD-OLED for fast shooters
Dell identifies the AW2725DF as a QHD QD-OLED display with a 360Hz refresh rate for competitive shooters. It is a fit for players seeking higher resolution than Full HD alongside a very high refresh rate, provided their PC can drive their games accordingly. Confirm the model’s current specifications and availability in your market.

3. Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 G60SF: QHD QD-OLED at 500Hz
Samsung’s guide lists the Odyssey OLED G6 G60SF as a 500Hz QHD QD-OLED model. It combines a high refresh target with QHD resolution, making it an option for players whose systems can deliver high frame rates at 1440p. Samsung’s cited guide is for the UK; availability and model naming can vary by region.
4. Samsung Odyssey G7 G70F: switch between 4K detail and FHD speed
Samsung describes the Odyssey G7 G70F as a dual-mode monitor: 4K UHD at 180Hz or Full HD at 360Hz. The modes make a direct trade between resolution and refresh rate. This is useful if you want to use a sharper mode for some games and a faster mode for competitive play, but check which input, settings, and regional SKU support the mode you plan to use.

5. BenQ ZOWIE XL2586X+: investigate for esports-focused play
DisplayNinja lists the BenQ ZOWIE XL2586X+ among monitors at 480Hz and higher, with a 600Hz listing. Refresh rate matters, but it is not the whole motion story
Manufacturers describe several approaches in this category: QD-OLED models at 240–500Hz, fast IPS models up to 500Hz, and esports-focused TN options. Panel type, refresh rate, and motion handling are related but not interchangeable. Consider the particular monitor’s motion-blur features and image characteristics rather than assuming that a higher refresh number alone ensures clearer movement.

Do not read a manufacturer-stated pixel-response figure as total input lag or proof of a competitive advantage. It describes one part of display behavior, not the entire path from your input to what appears on screen.

1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteLG Display reported results from an experiment involving 31 adult male general gamers playing an FPS at 60Hz, 240Hz, 360Hz, and 480Hz in randomized order. In its 2026 release, the company reported a 38% higher hit score at 480Hz than at 60Hz, a further 10% increase versus 240Hz, and more than 10 milliseconds lower input lag at 480Hz versus 60Hz. These are LG Display’s reported results from its experiment, not a guarantee for every player: the participant group was limited, and LG Display is a display manufacturer.

Choose a size and stand that work at your desk
Dell recommends 24.5-inch and 27-inch displays for competitive gaming at desk distance. A smaller screen can keep the action within a compact field of view; larger displays can make single-player games more immersive. The best choice depends on your viewing distance, desk space, and whether you value competitive focus or a more expansive image.
Check the stand’s adjustment range and whether it suits your desk before purchase. A high refresh rate is of little practical help if the screen cannot be positioned comfortably for long sessions.
OLED: weigh image quality against burn-in terms
OLED and QD-OLED options can offer image-quality benefits, but buyers should check burn-in protections and the exact warranty. Dell says its Alienware OLED and QD-OLED monitors have pixel-refresh and burn-in mitigation features, and that its OLED warranty includes burn-in coverage for three years. Confirm that the statement applies to the specific SKU and market you are buying; warranty conditions can depend on the model and region.
