The best alternative to Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 3 depends on your phone, the finding network you want, and how the tracker attaches to your belongings. Apple AirTag (2nd generation) is the clearest pick for iPhone households; Chipolo POP is the most flexible choice if you want to choose between Apple Find My and Android Find Hub; Tile Pro suits people who want Tile’s louder, longer-range model; Pebblebee Halo offers USB-C recharging; and Tile Sticker is designed for flat, smooth items such as remotes.

Samsung has announced Galaxy SmartTag3, but availability is staggered: Samsung says it launches first in Korea on October 7, 2026, with U.S. availability by early November 2026 and additional markets in 2027. Its announced U.S. list prices are $29.99 for one and $99.99 for four. These alternatives are not universal upgrades: a tracker’s phone compatibility and finding network may matter more than its printed Bluetooth range.

At a glance: which tracker fits your phone and belongings?

Tracker Best fit Network and phone fit Power and notable details
Apple AirTag (2nd generation) iPhone households Apple Find My; not a neutral cross-platform choice Replaceable CR2032; IP67; sharing with up to five people. Apple says its second-generation UWB chip enables Precision Finding.
Tile Pro (2024) People who want Tile’s louder, longer-range model and a replaceable battery Tile network and app CR2032; 500-foot advertised range, which Tom’s Guide reviewer says their test did not reach. Geofence features require a subscription, according to Tom’s Guide.
Chipolo POP People who want to choose Apple Find My or Android Find Hub Can join either network, but only one at a time Replaceable CR2032; maker claims up to one year, 90 m (300 ft) Bluetooth range, and approximately 120 dB loudness; IP55.
Pebblebee Halo People who prefer a rechargeable, rugged-oriented form Geofence support depends on operating system, according to Tom’s Guide USB-C rechargeable; Tom’s Guide lists a 500-foot range specification.
Tile Sticker (2024) Flat, smooth belongings such as remotes Tile network and app Adhesive backing; non-replaceable battery with a three-year life claim reported by Tom’s Guide; 250-foot stated range.

Specifications and claims in the table are attributed to Apple, Chipolo, Samsung, or Tom’s Guide as indicated; they are not independent guarantees of performance. In particular, Tom’s Guide reported shorter tested results than the listed ranges for Tile Pro and Chipolo POP.

1. Apple AirTag (2nd generation): the best key finder for iPhones

Choose AirTag 2 if the people who need to locate your belongings use iPhones and you want Apple’s Find My network. Apple says nearby participating Apple devices can relay an AirTag’s location, with location data anonymous and encrypted. That network can help when an item is away from your phone, while Precision Finding is intended to guide you when you are nearby.

Life360 Tile - Bluetooth Tracker, Keys Finder and Item Locator for Keys, Bags and More. Phone Finder. Both iOS and Android Compatible. 1-Pack (Black)
  • THE EVERYTHING TRACKER: Protect lost or stolen stuff and make family life easier. Attach to everyday things like keys, water bottles, or bags
  • STAY SAFE WITH SOS: Discreetly trigger an SOS alert to your loved ones in unsafe situations
  • FIND YOUR THINGS: Ring your misplaced Tile, or track it down in the free app
  • FIND YOUR PHONE: Phone hiding under a cushion? Use your Tile to make it ring — even when silenced
  • USE WITH LIFE360: Add your Tiles to Life360 — a top family connection and safety app – to see everything and everyone on the same map

Apple says AirTag 2 uses a second-generation Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip for Precision Finding, and that its Precision Finding range is up to 1.5 times greater than the prior generation. Apple also says its speaker is 50% louder than before. These are Apple’s comparisons with the previous AirTag generation, not independently measured guarantees.

  • Upkeep: It uses a replaceable CR2032 coin cell.
  • Sharing: Apple supports sharing an AirTag with up to five other people.
  • Durability: Apple lists an IP67 rating.
  • Privacy: Apple documents unwanted-tracker alerts on iPhone and Android.

AirTag is not the best choice if you need a tracker that behaves like a fully cross-platform option. Its practical advantage is strongest in an Apple household where Find My is already part of how people locate devices and belongings.

2. Tile Pro (2024): a replaceable-battery Tile with a long stated range

Tile Pro is worth considering if you want Tile’s louder, longer-range model and the option to replace its battery. Tom’s Guide lists a CR2032 battery and a 500-foot advertised range. Treat that distance as a specification, not a promise: the publication’s reviewer reported that their test fell short of the claim.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Tom’s Guide also reports that Tile Pro has an SOS feature, but enabling it means giving up the button-based function for finding your phone. The guide says geofence features require a subscription. Those trade-offs matter if you expect the button to serve as a phone finder or want location alerts tied to places.

UGREEN FineTrack Air Tracker Tags (iOS Only) 4 Pack Key Finder
  • Easy Find & Family Sharing with Apple Find My: Quickly pair the FineTrack tag with your iPhone or iPad in just one tap. Using the pre-installed Find My app, add the Air Tracker tag to the Items tab to instantly locate and track your keys, wallet, and other valuables. With iOS 17 or later, you can also share your tracker’s location with family members, so everyone can help keep items safe. (Note: Compatible with iOS devices only, not for Android.)
  • Smart Tracking Made Easy: Whether Bluetooth Air Tracker Tag is nearby or far away, locate it easily with the Find My app. When within Bluetooth range, play a sound to quickly find the item tracker tag; when out of range, the Apple Find My network uses its vast ecosystem of Apple devices to provide the item finder’s latest location. Enjoy global tracking with Apple’s Find My network without any subscription fees.
  • Lost Item Alerts & Lost Mode: When your Air Tracker Tag moves out of range, the Apple Find My app sends an instant lost alert with the last known location. If your item is confirmed lost, you can activate Lost Mode and leave your contact information so nearby Apple devices can remotely access it and help locate your tracker, making recovery quick and easy.
  • 2-Year Battery Life & Child-Safe Certified: The UGREEN 4-pack Bluetooth tracker tags feature a replaceable battery that lasts up to 2 years, outperforming standard 1-year trackers. You can check the tracker’s battery anytime in the app and replace it when needed, keeping your valuables always protected. Item finder tags are also UL4200A certified, preventing children from accidentally swallowing the battery.
  • Your Privacy, Fully Protected: Certified by Apple MFi, this Bluetooth Air Tracker Tag uses end-to-end encryption to keep your location data private and secure. All communications are anonymous and encrypted, and no location data is stored on the device. Even if your item is lost, your information remains protected and cannot be accessed without your permission — not by Apple, the manufacturer, or any third party.

3. Chipolo POP: choose Apple Find My or Android Find Hub

Chipolo POP is the most direct option here for someone who wants a third-party tag but does not want to commit to a single phone platform before buying. Chipolo says POP can be set up with Apple Find My or Android Find Hub. It can use only one of those networks at a time, so it cannot simultaneously report through both.

Chipolo lists an IP55 rating, a replaceable CR2032 cell, up to one year of battery life, a 90 m (300 ft) Bluetooth range, and approximately 120 dB loudness. These are manufacturer specifications. Tom’s Guide describes its alarm as loud and its out-of-range alerts as included, but reports shorter range in its testing and notes that POP has no UWB.

That combination makes POP a useful choice if you want an audible alarm, a replaceable battery, and the ability to select a finding network that matches your phone. If you later switch ecosystems, plan on setting it up for the new network rather than expecting both systems to work at once.

4. Pebblebee Halo: a rechargeable option

Consider Pebblebee Halo if you prefer recharging over replacing a coin cell and want the rugged-oriented form highlighted by Tom’s Guide. The guide lists USB-C recharging and a 500-foot stated range, and says geofence support depends on the operating system.

  • STAY SAFE WITH SOS: Discreetly trigger an SOS alert to your loved ones in unsafe situations
  • USE WITH LIFE360: Add your Tiles to Life360 — a top family connection and safety app – to see everything and everyone on the same map

The 500-foot figure is a listed specification, not a guaranteed real-world distance. The available product comparison does not establish additional details about Halo’s battery runtime or durability rating, so check the current product information for those specifics before buying.

5. Tile Sticker (2024): for smooth, flat objects

Tile Sticker solves an attachment problem that a conventional keyring-shaped tracker does not: its adhesive backing can go on a flat, smooth object such as a remote. Tom’s Guide lists a 250-foot stated range and reports a three-year battery-life claim, but the battery is not replaceable.

The Sticker protrudes from the surface, and Tom’s Guide cautions that its tested range was limited. It makes most sense when the item’s shape or lack of a loop is the main obstacle to using a tracker—not as a general-purpose replacement for a tag on keys or a bag.

How to choose: network, nearby finding, battery, and fit

Check the phone and finding network first

Confirm which app and network the tracker needs, and whether the people who may help locate an item use compatible phones. Crowdsourced networks depend on nearby participating devices and settings; a large network does not guarantee that an item will receive a location update in a particular place. Chipolo POP is the only candidate in this group that lets you choose between Apple Find My and Android Find Hub, and it joins one network at a time.

Even if the item is out of sight, a single button press activates the smart tracker tag's alert.
  • Simple Setup: This tracker for android or iOS pairs effortlessly with Android or iOS devices in seconds, automatically adapting to your chosen platform (connects to only one platform at a time).

Samsung says more than 900 million participating Galaxy devices worldwide can act as finding nodes for SmartTag3. That is Samsung’s stated count, not a promise about update timing at a specific location. If you already use a compatible Galaxy phone, SmartTag3 remains a serious option rather than a product these alternatives automatically beat.

Separate finding nearby from finding away

Bluetooth and precision-finding technologies help when you are close enough to search for an item; a crowdsourced network may help provide a location when the item is away from your phone. Apple describes UWB-based Precision Finding for AirTag 2. Samsung describes SmartTag3 Compass View using Bluetooth Channel Sounding and UWB on supported Galaxy phones, with a stated detection range of up to 60 meters under line-of-sight conditions. Samsung cautions that obstacles and nearby electronics can reduce range and accuracy. A printed Bluetooth range is not the same thing as a network location update.

Match the power choice to how you maintain devices

  • Replaceable coin cell: AirTag 2, Tile Pro (2024), and Chipolo POP use CR2032 batteries, according to their respective product information or Tom’s Guide.
  • Rechargeable: Tom’s Guide lists Pebblebee Halo as USB-C rechargeable.
  • Sealed battery: Tile Sticker’s battery is non-replaceable; Tom’s Guide reports a three-year battery-life claim.

Battery life varies by model and usage; do not treat one model’s runtime claim as comparable to another’s unless the manufacturers specify equivalent conditions.

Think through alerts, sharing, and phone-finding functions

Compare the alerts and sharing functions you will actually use, not just the ability to make a tag beep. AirTag supports sharing with up to five people and unwanted-tracker alerts on iPhone and Android. Tile Pro’s SOS feature, as reported by Tom’s Guide, comes at the cost of its button-based phone-finding feature when enabled.

SmartTag3 supports core finding and sharing across Galaxy and iOS, according to Samsung, but its Compass View, Ring Phone, and Left Behind Alert are not available on iOS. Samsung identifies its place notification feature as a trial feature in the announcement footnotes. Its precision-finding feature also depends on supported Galaxy phone hardware.

Make sure it can attach to the item

Tile Sticker is designed for smooth surfaces; standard tags are more natural on keys, bags, or other items that can take a holder or have a loop. Samsung lists SmartTag3 keyring and loop cases as separately sold accessories. Check that a holder is made for the exact tracker model, and treat water-resistance ratings as protection under specified conditions rather than permanent waterproofing.

What SmartTag3 offers if you are not sure you need an alternative

SmartTag3 is already announced, not a rumored product. Samsung says it is approximately 35% smaller by volume and 33% lighter than SmartTag2. It lists up to 550 days of battery life under standard usage and up to 790 days in Power Saving Mode, based on internal simulated typical-use tests with an in-box CR2032 on a pre-release version; Samsung says actual life varies. Those figures are Samsung’s test claims, not independent results.

For the U.S., Samsung announced list prices of $29.99 for one and $99.99 for four, with availability by early November 2026. Samsung says Korea is first, on October 7, 2026, and additional markets follow in 2027. Do not assume the U.S. price or schedule applies in other countries.

The practical dividing line is ecosystem and feature fit: a Galaxy owner who wants Samsung’s network and nearby precision finding may have little reason to switch. An iPhone household is better matched to AirTag; someone who wants a choice of Apple or Google’s finding network may prefer Chipolo POP; the other candidates solve narrower preferences around Tile’s product family, USB-C recharging, or adhesive attachment.
