As of October 3, 2026, Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton are the most prominent WWE names missing from the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match. Gunther, Finn Bálor and Rey Mysterio also failed to make its six-person field. This is a preview snapshot ahead of the October 10 event in New Orleans; it describes who is out of the ladder match, not who is absent from the entire show.
Who qualified for the men’s Money in the Bank match?
WWE’s announced six-man field is Bron Breakker, Je’Von Evans, Trick Williams, Penta, CM Punk and Kevin Owens. The names below are an editorial selection of notable wrestlers who did not advance, not an official WWE ranking of star power. WWE’s match page lists the entrants and qualifier outcomes.

Five notable stars who missed the ladder match
1. Cody Rhodes
Rhodes lost the final qualifying match to Kevin Owens, who also defeated Johnny Gargano to take the last place. That result left Rhodes out of the six-man ladder match.

Orton had already competed in a qualifier, but WWE’s recap says he interfered in the final qualifier to prevent Rhodes from winning. He is not among the confirmed six entrants.

3. Gunther
Gunther was one of CM Punk’s opponents in the qualifier Punk won to advance. WWE’s recap names Gunther among those who did not qualify.
4. Finn Bálor
Bálor also faced Punk in that qualifying match and did not earn a place in the ladder match.
5. Rey Mysterio
Mysterio came up short against Bron Breakker in a qualifier that also involved Ethan Page. WWE’s recap identifies Mysterio as a non-advancer.
Missing the ladder match does not mean missing the event
The distinction matters: the evidence establishes these wrestlers’ absence from the men’s ladder match, not that they are all off the Money in the Bank card. WWE’s event announcement and match preview separately list Roman Reigns vs. LA Knight for the World Heavyweight Championship and Oba Femi vs. Bronson Reed. No other announced match for the five wrestlers above is established by the cited card information.

WWE announced the event for Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, and said the date was moved one month later than originally announced. WWE describes the briefcase as a contract for a championship match at a time and place of the holder’s choosing within the next year. The U.S. stream is listed on the ESPN App with an ESPN Unlimited plan; internationally, WWE lists Netflix. Check the WWE event announcement for viewing details close to the event. Netflix Tudum’s October 2 preview gave a 6 p.m. ET / 3 p.m. PT start time, but WWE’s match page is the better source for the final qualifier field.
