Choosing ecommerce hosting is less about finding the lowest monthly number and more about matching your store’s platform, traffic, checkout workload, and support needs to the right server plan. A WooCommerce store needs WordPress hosting with enough database, PHP, storage, and caching capacity. A Shopify or BigCommerce store is different: those platforms include hosting, so you would not buy a separate hosting plan in the same way.
For this comparison, Bluehost is the best overall ecommerce hosting provider. It has a dedicated ecommerce offering, built-in commerce tools, and a straightforward path to launching a WordPress/WooCommerce store. Hostinger is the strongest low-cost alternative, while SiteGround is particularly appealing if staging and managed WooCommerce tools matter more than the lowest renewal price.
Best ecommerce hosting providers compared
| Rank | Provider | Best for | Current introductory price | Renewal price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Bluehost | Best overall WordPress/WooCommerce hosting | $14.99/month for 36 months | $21.99/month |
| 2 | Hostinger | Lowest-cost managed WooCommerce hosting | $3.79/month for 48 months | $16.99/month |
| 3 | SiteGround | WooCommerce tools and staging | $2.99/month for 12 months | $17.99/month on StartUp |
| 4 | DreamHost | Budget WordPress hosting | $2.89/month for the first year | $10.99/month on Launch |
| 5 | GoDaddy Hosting | Traditional cPanel hosting and support | $7.99/month for 36 months | $611.64 for the next 36-month term |
These are promotional prices and require different commitment periods. Comparing the headline monthly price without checking the payment term and renewal cost can produce a misleading result.

Bluehost is the best choice for most small businesses launching a WordPress or WooCommerce store. Its eCommerce Essentials plan is designed specifically for online selling rather than requiring you to assemble every commerce feature yourself.
#1 Best Overall
- Get NVMe solid state performance with up to 1050MB/s read and 1000MB/s write speeds in a portable, high-capacity drive(1) (Based on internal testing; performance may be lower depending on host device & other factors. 1MB=1,000,000 bytes.)
- Up to 3-meter drop protection and IP65 water and dust resistance mean this tough drive can take a beating(3) (Previously rated for 2-meter drop protection and IP55 rating. Now qualified for the higher, stated specs.)
- Use the handy carabiner loop to secure it to your belt loop or backpack for extra peace of mind.
- Help keep private content private with the included password protection featuring 256‐bit AES hardware encryption.(3)
- Easily manage files and automatically free up space with the SanDisk Memory Zone app.(5). Non-Operating Temperature -20°C to 85°C
The plan includes subscriptions, memberships, paid courses, digital downloads, secure checkout and payments, built-in SEO tools, and pre-installed commerce tools. That makes it useful for more than a basic catalogue of physical products.
Bluehost pricing
- eCommerce Essentials: $14.99/month for a 36-month term, renewing at $21.99/month.
- eCommerce Premium: $21.99/month, renewing at $30.99/month.
Bluehost’s Commerce Solution applies to one website. If you plan to run multiple ecommerce sites, additional websites require additional Commerce Solution add-ons. That is an important distinction from conventional multi-site hosting.
Why Bluehost wins
- A dedicated ecommerce plan reduces setup work.
- Commerce features cover subscriptions, memberships, courses, and downloads.
- It is listed on WordPress.org’s current hosting page.
- The plan is easier for new store owners to understand than a generic server package.
WordPress.org’s recommendation is useful context, but it is not proof that Bluehost will be the fastest host for every WooCommerce store. WordPress hosting recommendations also do not automatically establish PCI compliance, superior payment processing, or unlimited scalability.
Choose Bluehost if: you want a guided WordPress ecommerce setup and prefer built-in selling tools over configuring a general-purpose hosting account.
2. Hostinger — best low-cost managed WooCommerce option
Hostinger offers the lowest entry price among the main managed WooCommerce choices in this comparison. Its plans include a free domain, unlimited free SSL certificates, free migration, a CDN, backups, automatic WordPress and WooCommerce updates, and 24/7 support.
Hostinger pricing
- Unlimited: $3.79/month when paid for 48 months, renewing at $16.99/month.
- Cloud Startup: $7.99/month when paid for 48 months, renewing at $25.99/month.
The four-year prepayment is the main catch. The $3.79 price is not a normal month-to-month rate, so calculate the full amount due at checkout before treating it as a budget solution.
Hostinger is a good fit for a new store, a smaller product catalogue, or a business that wants managed WordPress features without paying Bluehost’s dedicated ecommerce price. Cloud hosting can be the more sensible option when the store needs more resources than a basic shared plan provides.

- Solid state performance with up to 800MB/s read speeds in a portable drive. (Based on internal testing; performance may be lower depending on host device, interface, usage conditions and other factors. 1MB=1,000,000 bytes.)
- Back up your content and memories on a storage solution that fits seamlessly into your mobile lifestyle.
- Take it with you on your adventures—up to two-meter drop protection means this durable drive can take a beating. (Based on internal testing.)
- Secure it to your belt loop or backpack for extra peace of mind thanks to the tough rubber hook.
- From Sandisk, a brand professional photographers trust to take on assignments.
“Unlimited” or “unmetered” traffic should not be interpreted as unlimited CPU or memory. A store can still slow down when product searches, database queries, image processing, and checkout requests exceed the resources assigned to its plan.
Choose Hostinger if: keeping the initial cost low matters most and you are comfortable committing to a 48-month term.
3. SiteGround — best for WooCommerce tooling and staging
SiteGround is a strong choice for store owners who value managed WordPress features and a more structured development workflow. Its WooCommerce hosting includes automatic WooCommerce installation, free site transfer, daily backups, free SSL and CDN, managed updates, WP-CLI, and SSH.
Its higher-tier plans are especially relevant if you want to test theme changes, plugin updates, or checkout modifications before putting them on the live store. Staging is not a substitute for backups, but it can reduce the risk of deploying a broken update directly to customers.
SiteGround pricing
- StartUp: $2.99/month for a 12-month prepaid term, renewing at $17.99/month.
- GrowBig: $4.99/month, renewing at $29.99/month.
- GoGeek: $7.99/month, renewing at $44.99/month.
SiteGround lists 10 GB of storage on StartUp, 50 GB on GrowBig, and 100 GB on GoGeek. Storage is shared across websites, email, and files on the account. A store with many large product images, downloadable files, staging copies, and email accounts can use that allowance faster than expected.
GrowBig or GoGeek makes more sense than StartUp for a growing WooCommerce shop that needs additional tools. However, the renewal prices are considerably higher than the promotional rates, particularly on GoGeek.
Choose SiteGround if: managed WooCommerce features, backups, staging, and developer access are more important than the cheapest long-term price.

4. DreamHost — best budget WordPress-oriented option
DreamHost’s shared hosting is a practical starting point for a small WordPress store. The current Launch offer includes unmetered bandwidth, daily automated backups, unlimited free SSL certificates, a free domain for one year, and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Recommended Free Tools
DreamHost pricing
- Web Hosting Launch: $2.89/month for the first year, renewing at $10.99/month.
- DreamPress 1: $14.99/month for the first year, renewing at $19.99/month.
DreamPress is DreamHost’s more WordPress-focused option and is worth considering when a store needs a managed environment rather than the lowest-cost shared plan.
DreamHost’s “unmetered” bandwidth needs qualification. The Launch plan specifies a 40,000-monthly-visit figure, and unmetered bandwidth does not mean unlimited server resources. CPU, RAM, database workload, PHP processes, and checkout traffic still affect performance.
DreamHost is no longer listed on WordPress.org’s current hosting recommendation page. That does not make it unsuitable for WordPress or WooCommerce, but older articles that describe it as a currently recommended WordPress host should not be treated as up-to-date evidence.
Choose DreamHost if: you need an inexpensive WordPress starting point and your store has modest traffic and a relatively simple catalogue.

GoDaddy is familiar to many small businesses and remains a reasonable option for customers who prefer conventional web hosting, cPanel, and a broad support operation. Its Web Hosting Deluxe plan includes 10 websites, 50 GB of NVMe storage, cPanel, free email, and free unlimited SSL for all websites.
GoDaddy pricing and SSL differences
Web Hosting Deluxe costs $7.99/month with a three-year term. The renewal is listed as $611.64 for the next three-year term, equivalent to $16.99/month.

- Easily store and access 2TB to content on the go with the Seagate Portable Drive, a USB external hard drive
- Designed to work with Windows or Mac computers, this external hard drive makes backup a snap just drag and drop
- To get set up, connect the portable hard drive to a computer for automatic recognition no software required
- This USB drive provides plug and play simplicity with the included 18 inch USB 3.0 cable
- The available storage capacity may vary.
GoDaddy’s plans differ significantly, so do not generalize the SSL policy across its entire product range:
- Web Hosting Deluxe: free unlimited SSL for all websites.
- Web Hosting Economy: free SSL for one year, with SSL renewing at $119.99/year on the current US page.
- Hosting for WordPress Basic: SSL included without a renewal fee, but limited to one website and 10 GB of storage.
The Deluxe plan is therefore more attractive than Economy for a store that needs multiple websites or wants to avoid a separate SSL renewal charge. Still, compare the complete renewal bill rather than just the introductory monthly figure.

1. Identify your ecommerce platform
Shopify and BigCommerce are hosted ecommerce platforms. Hosting is part of the service, so you generally do not install them on a separate shared hosting account.
WooCommerce is different. It is a WordPress plugin and requires a hosting environment capable of running WordPress, PHP, a database, themes, plugins, scheduled tasks, and payment integrations. This comparison is primarily useful for WordPress/WooCommerce stores.
2. Check the renewal price
Promotional rates may require 12, 36, or 48 months of prepayment. Record three numbers before purchasing:
- The total amount charged today.
- The length of the introductory term.
- The renewal rate and renewal term.
A plan advertised at $2.89/month can be much more expensive after the first year, while a $3.79/month plan can require four years paid upfront.

3. Look beyond product-count limits
A provider may allow unlimited products but still impose practical limits through database size, CPU, RAM, PHP workers, storage, object caching, and concurrent checkout requests. Product photography and downloadable files also consume storage. Ask what resources are allocated, not just how many products the plan permits.
4. Separate SSL from PCI compliance
An SSL certificate encrypts traffic between a customer’s browser and your website. It does not make the entire store PCI compliant. PCI compliance depends on the complete payment setup, access controls, policies, systems, and handling of cardholder data. Using a hosted payment page or tokenized gateway may reduce the amount of card data your site handles, but you still need to follow your payment provider’s requirements.
5. Plan for backups and updates
Daily backups are useful, but check how long backups are retained and whether restoration is included. Automatic WordPress and WooCommerce updates can save time, but test major plugin, theme, and WordPress changes in staging when possible. A failed update during a busy sales period can affect the product catalogue, cart, or payment flow.

FAQ
What is the best ecommerce hosting provider?
Bluehost is the best overall choice in this comparison for WordPress and WooCommerce stores. Its eCommerce Essentials plan includes built-in commerce tools for payments, subscriptions, memberships, courses, and digital downloads. Hostinger may be better for the lowest introductory cost, while SiteGround is stronger for managed tools and staging.
Is Bluehost good for WooCommerce?
Yes. Bluehost offers a dedicated ecommerce plan with pre-installed commerce tools, secure checkout and payments, and features for subscriptions, memberships, paid courses, and digital downloads. The Commerce Solution applies to one website, so multiple stores require additional add-ons.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Is cheap ecommerce hosting safe?
A low price does not automatically make hosting unsafe, but you should verify SSL coverage, backups, update handling, account security, payment integration, and support. SSL encrypts connections but does not by itself make a store PCI compliant. Promotional hosting prices also commonly increase at renewal.
Do I need separate hosting for Shopify or BigCommerce?
Usually no. Shopify and BigCommerce are hosted ecommerce platforms that include hosting as part of the service. WooCommerce is a WordPress plugin, so a WooCommerce store does require a separate WordPress hosting environment.
The Bottom Line
Best overall: Bluehost. It offers the clearest dedicated ecommerce package for most WordPress/WooCommerce beginners. Before buying, compare the full introductory payment, renewal price, website limit, storage, resource allowances, backups, and payment-security responsibilities—not just the advertised monthly rate.
