If you want an air fryer with a stainless-steel basket, the key distinction is whether the steel is the food-contact basket or merely the appliance’s exterior finish. Of these five candidates, COSORI’s Iconic is the one whose cited product page specifically identifies a stainless-steel basket; the others are finish-based alternatives whose cited descriptions do not confirm a steel basket.
What “steel air fryer” means in this guide
“Stainless steel” can describe the outside of an air fryer, its basket, or another cooking component. Those are not interchangeable: the basket or cooking surface is what contacts food. A stainless-steel exterior alone does not establish that the basket is steel.
This is a materials-and-specifications shortlist, not a five-way performance ranking. The candidates below were selected because their manufacturer pages identify a stainless-steel basket or a stainless-steel finish. Only the COSORI Iconic entry is documented here as having a stainless-steel basket. Its cooking surfaces are also described as ceramic-coated and nonstick, so it is not a bare-steel cooking surface.

Which one fits your needs?
If a stainless-steel basket is essential
The COSORI Iconic is the only candidate here with a manufacturer statement identifying the basket as 304 stainless steel. Check that the exact model number, CAF-SE601S-CUS, appears on the listing you are considering. Its cooking surfaces are ceramic-coated and nonstick, so choose it only if that combination suits your preferences.

If you want a stainless-steel look
The Instant Vortex Plus 6QT and Dual 8QT are documented as stainless-steel-finish appliances, but the cited pages do not establish basket material. The Mini is also a stainless-steel-finish model; its page describes a nonstick, dishwasher-safe basket. Cuisinart’s AIR-200NAS is listed in Black Stainless, with basket material unstated in the cited listing. Treat each as a finish choice unless the exact model’s manual or manufacturer documentation confirms the basket construction.
If you need two cooking zones or a smaller capacity
The Vortex Plus Dual is the dual-basket candidate; the Vortex Mini is the 4QT compact candidate. The product descriptions here do not give comparable usable cooking area or dimensions for those models, so advertised capacity alone cannot establish how much food fits in a single layer or whether an appliance will fit your counter.

How to verify a steel basket before buying
- Find the exact model number. Confirm the listing and manual match the model you intend to buy; similar names and finishes do not prove that components are identical.
- Look for a statement about the basket itself. A page that says “stainless steel finish” describes appearance, not necessarily the food-contact basket. Look for explicit wording naming the basket, tray, or crisper plate.
- Check the grade and any coating. If the source identifies a steel grade, note it. Also check whether the food-contact surface is coated; “stainless-steel basket” does not automatically mean bare steel.
- Verify care instructions for the exact model. A dishwasher-safe claim for one model or component should not be assumed to apply to another. Follow the model’s manual, especially for coated parts.
- Check fit, configuration, warranty, and current listing details. Confirm dimensions including handles and clearance, single versus dual baskets, warranty terms, and the price and availability shown for your market.
What this shortlist cannot tell you
The cited manufacturer pages establish product descriptions and selected specifications, not a controlled comparison of crispness, speed, noise, cleaning effort, or durability across these five models. Tom’s Guide says its team has tested nearly 30 air fryers over time and provides favorable coverage of the COSORI Iconic, but that does not establish a top-five ranking among stainless-steel-basket models.
