The “coming soon” headline refers to a November 25, 2022 story, not a fresh 2026 announcement. At that time, MSI’s Project 491C was still a teaser without final specifications or pricing in the report; LG’s 45-inch UltraGear 45GR95QE-B, by contrast, was already a launched monitor. LG lists that model with a 240Hz OLED panel, but its resolution is 3440 × 1440—not 4K.
What the “coming soon” headline referred to
HotHardware published the story on November 25, 2022, ahead of CES 2023. It described MSI’s Project 491C as a teaser for what MSI called “the world’s firsts super ultra-wide QD-OLED curved gaming monitor,” quoting the wording attributed to MSI in the report. The article said further specifications and pricing had not yet been provided at that point. That historical teaser should not be read as a current product announcement or as confirmation of a final retail specification sheet. HotHardware’s 2022 report.
Which over-40-inch 240Hz OLED monitor has published specifications?
LG UltraGear 45GR95QE-B
LG’s product page identifies the UltraGear 45GR95QE-B as a 45-inch curved OLED gaming monitor with a 21:9 aspect ratio, 3440 × 1440 WQHD resolution, 800R curvature, and a 240Hz refresh rate. LG also lists a 0.03ms GtG response-time claim, HDR10, DCI-P3 coverage, NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility, and AMD FreeSync Premium. These are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent test results. LG’s 45GR95QE-B product page.

Its 3440 × 1440 resolution makes it an ultrawide monitor, not a 4K display. If your requirement is specifically an OLED monitor larger than 40 inches that also runs at 240Hz, the LG is a documented example; if you require 4K, this model does not meet that resolution requirement.

MSI Project 491C
The 2022 HotHardware story does not provide enough final product information to make a reliable specification comparison for Project 491C. It reported that further specifications and pricing were not available then. Screen resolution, aspect ratio, curvature, panel details, refresh rate, response time, variable-refresh support, ports, and current price or availability should therefore be treated as not stated in that report—not inferred from the teaser wording. What LG Display’s 2026 panel announcement does—and does not—show
LG Display’s 2026 announcement describes a gaming OLED panel lineup spanning 20 to 40 inches, a 39-inch 5K2K panel, and RGB Stripe OLED supporting 240Hz. These are panel announcements, not proof of a finished retail monitor larger than 40 inches with a 240Hz refresh rate. The announcement does not establish that MSI’s 2022 Project 491C teaser became a retail monitor with the specifications consumers might have expected. LG Display’s 2026 announcement.

Does the 45-inch LG meet a “40-inch-plus 4K OLED at 240Hz” requirement?
It meets the size, OLED, and refresh-rate parts of that description according to LG’s specifications, but it does not meet the 4K requirement: its listed resolution is 3440 × 1440. Keep size, refresh rate, and resolution as separate filters when comparing models; a large 21:9 screen is not automatically a 4K screen.
The phrase “40’’+ 4K OLED Monitor with 240Hz” also appeared in one Reddit user’s question about current and upcoming models. That is an individual’s wording, not evidence of broader buyer demand or of an announced product matching all four criteria. Reddit discussion.
