These 30 Google Sheets keyboard shortcuts cover everyday editing, formatting, navigation, and sheet management on Windows, macOS, and ChromeOS. The quickest way to look up any command is Ctrl + / on Windows or ChromeOS, or ⌘ + / on Mac. Shortcuts can reduce repeated menu work, but Google’s reference documents what each command does—not a measured amount of time saved.
In the lists below, “Windows” means Google’s PC shortcut mapping for Windows; ChromeOS is shown separately where its mapping differs. On Mac, follow the Mac entry rather than mechanically swapping Ctrl for ⌘: some commands use Control, Option, or Fn.
Everyday editing shortcuts
Use these to correct changes, search a sheet, copy only the result of a formula, or apply data across a selected range.
- Undo — Windows/ChromeOS: Ctrl + Z; Mac: ⌘ + Z.
- Redo — Windows/ChromeOS: Ctrl + Y or Ctrl + Shift + Z; Mac: ⌘ + Y or ⌘ + Shift + Z.
- Find — Windows/ChromeOS: Ctrl + F; Mac: ⌘ + F.
- Find and replace — Windows/ChromeOS: Ctrl + H; Mac: ⌘ + Shift + H.
- Paste values only — Windows/ChromeOS: Ctrl + Shift + V; Mac: ⌘ + Shift + V. This pastes cell values without carrying over formulas or formatting.
- Fill down — Windows/ChromeOS: Ctrl + D; Mac: ⌘ + D. Copies the top cell of a selected range downward.
- Fill right — Windows/ChromeOS: Ctrl + R; Mac: ⌘ + R. Copies the leftmost cell of a selected range to the right.
- Fill selected range — Windows/ChromeOS: Ctrl + Enter; Mac: ⌘ + Enter. Applies the current entry to the selected cells.
- Select a column — Windows, ChromeOS, and Mac: Ctrl + Space.
- Select a row — Windows, ChromeOS, and Mac: Shift + Space.
Formatting and date shortcuts
Apply common text styles and number formats without opening the menus. The currency and percentage commands use Ctrl on Mac too.

- Center align — Windows/ChromeOS: Ctrl + Shift + E; Mac: ⌘ + Shift + E.
- Insert a link — Windows/ChromeOS: Ctrl + K; Mac: ⌘ + K.
- Insert the current date — Windows/ChromeOS: Ctrl + ;; Mac: ⌘ + ;.
- Insert the current time — Windows/ChromeOS: Ctrl + Shift + ;; Mac: ⌘ + Shift + ;.
- Format as currency — Windows/ChromeOS and Mac: Ctrl + Shift + 4.
- Format as percentage — Windows/ChromeOS and Mac: Ctrl + Shift + 5.
Navigation and sheet-structure shortcuts
These combinations help move between sheet boundaries and tabs, add or hide rows, and inspect formulas. Some use special keys that differ by device.
- Go to the beginning of the sheet — Windows: Ctrl + Home; Mac: ⌘ + Fn + Left Arrow; ChromeOS: Ctrl + Search + Left Arrow.
- Go to the end of the sheet — Windows: Ctrl + End; Mac: ⌘ + Fn + Right Arrow; ChromeOS: Ctrl + Search + Right Arrow.
- Move to the next sheet — Windows: Alt + Down Arrow; Mac: Option + Down Arrow (on MacBook, Option + Right Arrow); ChromeOS: Ctrl + Shift + Search + Down Arrow.
- Move to the previous sheet — Windows: Alt + Up Arrow; Mac: Option + Up Arrow (on MacBook, Option + Left Arrow); ChromeOS: Ctrl + Shift + Search + Up Arrow.
- Insert a new sheet — Windows/ChromeOS: Shift + F11; Mac: Shift + Fn + F11.
- Insert rows above — With the rows selected first, Windows/ChromeOS: Ctrl + Alt + =; Mac: ⌘ + Option + =.
- Hide a row — Windows/ChromeOS: Ctrl + Alt + 9; Mac: ⌘ + Option + 9.
- Unhide a row — Windows/ChromeOS: Ctrl + Shift + 9; Mac: ⌘ + Shift + 9.
- Toggle showing all formulas — Windows, Mac, and ChromeOS: Ctrl + ~.
- Show the keyboard shortcut list — Windows/ChromeOS: Ctrl + /; Mac: ⌘ + /.
Find shortcuts and commands inside Sheets
Open the keyboard shortcut reference from a spreadsheet with Ctrl + / on Windows or ChromeOS, or ⌘ + / on Mac. Google notes that some shortcuts may not work for every language or keyboard; the in-product list is useful when a combination behaves differently on your setup.

To search for a command rather than browse shortcut tables, open Tool finder with Alt + / on Windows/ChromeOS or Option + / on Mac, then type the command you want.

Build a shortcut habit without memorizing all 30
Choose a few actions you repeat often—such as find, paste values only, or fill down—and use their shortcuts during normal work. Add another when the first set feels familiar. This is a practical way to learn the combinations; Google does not publish a measured time-saving figure for this list.
Google Sheets saves changes automatically in Drive, so a save shortcut is not required to preserve your work.
