Breville’s three picks cover three different routines: guided espresso, customizable drip coffee with a long cold-brew cycle, and hands-on semi-automatic espresso. Early-fall sale coverage reported discounts of up to $300 on some Breville products, but that does not mean every pick is discounted or that the reported prices are still available. Check the retailer’s listing for the model, finish, seller and current price before buying.
Which Breville coffee maker should you buy?
Choose by how you want to make coffee, not by treating these machines as interchangeable. Cat Ellis, TechRadar’s Homes Editor and an SCA-certified barista, named the Barista Touch Impress with Cold Extraction, Luxe Brewer Thermal and Barista Express in her June 22, 2026 Prime Day wish list. Ellis wrote, “I test over a dozen coffee makers every year here at TechRadar, and Breville’s espresso and drip coffee machines are consistently some of the best around.” That is her stated experience and assessment, not an independent comparative test.
| Model | Best fit | What the workflow involves |
|---|---|---|
| Breville Barista Touch Impress with Cold Extraction | People who want guided espresso and an option for cold coffee | Guided espresso preparation with the Impress Puck System; a cold extraction method infuses grounds with cold water before high-pressure extraction. |
| Breville Luxe Brewer Thermal | People who prefer drip coffee and customizable brewing | Adjustable bloom time and temperature, brew time and temperature, plus a cold-brew cycle that steeps grounds for 24 hours. |
| Breville Barista Express | People who want to take a more hands-on role in espresso | Grinds and doses beans; you tamp, level the grounds with the Razor tool and steam milk. |
What each machine offers
Barista Touch Impress with Cold Extraction: guided espresso
The Impress Puck System is designed to guide puck preparation: you tamp with a lever while the portafilter stays under the grinder. The machine also offers a cold extraction method that infuses ground coffee with cold water before extracting it under high pressure. Consider it if you want espresso but prefer more guidance through preparation, or if that cold-coffee method is part of your routine.
Luxe Brewer Thermal: customizable drip and cold brew
This is the drip option, rather than an espresso machine. Its settings let you customize bloom time and temperature as well as brew time and temperature. For cold brew, its cycle steeps the grounds for 24 hours, so it suits planning ahead—not someone who expects a quick cold drink on demand.
#1 Best Overall
- MANUAL HAND-TEXTURED MICROFOAM: The powerful steam wand on this cappuccino maker and latte machine is designed to quickly turn milk into smooth, flavorful microfoam for creating latte art at home
- PRECISE DOSE GRINDING: Integrated precision conical burr grinder on bean-to-cup espresso machine grinds on demand to deliver correct amount of freshly ground coffee directly into portafilter for your preferred taste with any roast of bean
- WATER PRESSURE: Low pressure pre-infusion gradually increases pressure at the start and draws out all the flavors evenly during the extraction for a balanced-tasting espresso, latte or cappuccino
- RECEIVE 2 FREE BAGS OF SPECIALTY COFFEE: Included when you purchase and register any Breville coffee machine; T&Cs apply
- PRECISE ESPRESSO EXTRACTION: Digital temperature regulation (PID) delivers water at precisely the right temperature, so espresso coffee maker allows for precise espresso extraction
Barista Express: more manual espresso
The Barista Express integrates grinding and dosing, but leaves more of the preparation to you. You tamp the grounds, use the Razor tool to level them, and steam the milk yourself. It is the more hands-on choice of these three; “beginner-friendly” does not mean its espresso workflow is fully automated.
What the Prime Day discount reports actually establish
The “up to $300 off” figure comes from 9to5Toys’ September 30, 2026 report on an early-fall Amazon sale. It described savings of up to $300 against list prices across Breville machines, grinders and accessories. Its examples were the Barista Touch Impress at $1,200 from $1,500 and the Barista Express at $500 from $700 for a listed finish. These are dated examples, not verified current offers or proof of historical lows. The report does not establish matching prices or savings for the Barista Touch Impress with Cold Extraction or the Luxe Brewer Thermal.

Tom’s Guide separately listed the Breville Bambino Plus at $399 from $499 in an October 4, 2026 early-deals roundup and said Prime Big Deal Days ran October 6–7. The Bambino Plus is not one of Ellis’s three picks. Since that stated event window ends October 7, availability and pricing should be checked directly rather than carried forward as a live deal.

TechRadar says the machines are sold under the Breville name in the United States and Australia, and as Sage in the United Kingdom. Match the product name and retailer listing to your location, and confirm that the listing is for the intended model and finish; similarly named products or finishes should not be assumed to share the same price.
