These 26 examples show how WordPress can support very different kinds of publishing: technology news, company updates, personal essays, visual inspiration, and fan communities. They are a curated gallery, not a popularity ranking—Colorlib’s September 28, 2026 roundup does not state a ranking method or popularity data. Use the list to study editorial purpose, layout, and reader interaction; theme details below are attributed to Colorlib and may have changed.

How to use this WordPress blog gallery

Look beyond surface styling. Ask what each site is for, how it organizes content, whether it invites participation, and what implementation details are actually known. A recognizable layout can offer an idea, but it does not establish that a site uses a particular theme today or that the same design is available as a ready-made template.

The examples below reflect Colorlib’s descriptions. Where it names a theme or says a site is custom, that is the article’s claim—not an independent audit of the site’s current CMS or theme configuration.

What these examples suggest about choosing a design

There is no single layout or theme that accounts for the range of sites in this gallery. Colorlib names themes for some examples, calls others custom, and does not specify a theme for every entry. That variety is more useful than treating a single design as a formula.

  • Start with editorial purpose: a company announcement stream, engineering publication, personal journal, and visual portfolio have different content needs.
  • Match presentation to material: photography may call for image-led pages; frequent reporting may benefit from clear archives and categories; long-form technical writing needs legible text and useful navigation.
  • Decide how readers participate: conversation, newsletters, and community contributions require different choices from a primarily one-way publication.
  • Separate inspiration from implementation: a site’s visual design may include custom work. A named theme in a roundup is not proof that every element can be recreated with that theme.

WordPress.com’s February 3, 2026 inspiration guide treats examples as sources of design and content ideas, and discusses templates, styles, plugins, patterns, and managed hosting. Its author, Priscilla Tan, writes, “These 15 examples show there’s no single formula.” Read the WordPress.com guide for that separate set of examples and its site-building context.

Where to find more verified WordPress examples

WordPress.org maintains an official showcase of selected sites it describes as built with WordPress, with categories including publication, community, creative, and business. Its examples include The Ankler, Daily Kos, NASA, Rolling Stone, and The White House. The showcase is useful platform context, but it does not independently confirm the platform or theme status of every site in Colorlib’s list.
