These 21 fusion concepts are presented as an open software catalogue for comparing device-family models—not as 21 working machines or reactor blueprints. In a September 28, 2026 overview, project author Miroslav Šotek says the catalogue has one repository per concept, alongside shared kernel and tokamak-physics repositories. He also says none of the configurations describes or validates a real machine. The repositories’ contents and technical claims have not been independently verified here.
What does one family repository contain?
According to Šotek’s overview, a family repository combines a validated configuration model and explicit diagnostic and timing semantics with concept-specific “level-0” physics and geometry exports. These are descriptions in the author’s article, not independently inspected or tested repository contents.
For the Z-pinch example, Šotek lists a validated configuration model; diagnostic and timing semantics; closed-form models for Bennett equilibrium, ideal-MHD/Kadomtsev stability limits, Shumlak–Hartman, and Pease–Braginskii; STL and glTF mesh exports; and deterministic STEP CAD. The article also reports “100 % statement and branch coverage” for the test suite. That figure is an author-reported software metric, not an independently checked result. The author describes the test rule this way: “If the two implementations differ in the last bit, the test fails.”

Šotek defines it as “closed-form models from the device’s own literature, evaluated on the validated configuration, without solving any equation.” In this framing, level-0 is a deliberately limited calculation layer, not a simulation of a complete device.

- “No equilibrium or stability equation is solved.”
- “Reactivity, yield, gain and breakeven are out of scope.”
Those boundaries matter: the presence of a named physics limit or a geometry export does not establish predicted reactor performance.
Why does the author say none describes a real machine?
The overview states: “No parameter set describes or validates any real machine.” Šotek says the models are “not machine-ready, not safety-certified and not reactor-ready,” and that there is no solver, controller, experimental correlation, or dataset. These are the author’s project-status claims; they should not be mistaken for independent verification of each repository.
One example in the article is its tokamak repository: the author characterizes it as a cylindrical periodic equivalent, rather than a model of a particular tokamak. A conceptual representation can be useful for organizing assumptions and calculations without representing an operating or proposed machine.

How should readers compare the concepts?
This is a catalogue proposal, not a comparison of operating fusion machines. The overview does not establish a basis for ranking these concepts by performance, cost, gain, safety, or readiness. If evaluating them as software representations, useful questions include:
- Which device-family physics are represented at level-0?
- Does the repository define configuration, diagnostic, and timing semantics?
- Which geometry exports are listed?
- Is there experimental correlation or machine-specific validation? The author says neither is currently available.
These axes help distinguish the scope of one software representation from another; they do not show which fusion concept is more feasible.

The overview names the shared scpn-reactor-kernels repository, the example family repositories scpn-z-pinch-core and scpn-tokamak-core, and the tokamak physics/control repository scpn-fusion-core. The article reports that the Z-pinch and tokamak repositories have no release or DOI yet. Their current existence, contents, and status have not been independently checked here, so treat those names and status details as the author’s account.

A practical first question when reviewing a specific model is the one Šotek invites readers to ask: “which closed-form limit would you check first?” Inspect the model’s assumptions and stated scope before treating an output as evidence about a real device.

What is planned, and what is not available yet?
Šotek says the same pattern is planned for 29 additional families covering fission, chemical reactors, and hybrids, followed by a planned Reactor Studio. The article explicitly says those additional family repositories do not yet exist. These are roadmap plans, not available repositories or an existing design environment.
