When is the 2026 Nobel Prize in Chemistry announced?
The announcement is scheduled for Wednesday, 7 October 2026, at 11:45 CEST (09:45 UTC). The Nobel Prize schedule says the announcement will take place “at the earliest” at that time, so it is the scheduled start rather than a guaranteed exact moment for the result. Where can I watch the announcement?
The Academy’s event page lists a livestream from 11:45 to 12:15 CEST. Watching requires no registration, and the stream will remain available afterward. Open the Academy event page and livestream.

Who selects the Chemistry laureate?
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences makes the selection from candidates recommended by the Nobel Committee for Chemistry. Nominations are by invitation: the committee sends confidential nomination forms to people qualified to nominate. Nominee names and other nomination information remain confidential for 50 years.
