Neither 1Password nor Keeper is the better choice for everyone. For an individual or family, compare sharing, recovery, device support and the price you will pay when a promotion ends. For a business, compare administration and identity controls, privileged-access features, developer workflows and the full cost of the required plan and add-ons. The feature descriptions below come from the vendors; they are not independent hands-on test results.

How to choose between 1Password and Keeper

Start with who will use the password manager. A household needs convenient vault sharing and a workable way to recover access. An organization may need identity-provider integration, provisioning, audit controls, secrets management or privileged-access tools. Those needs lead to different comparisons, so a single overall winner would be misleading.

  • For personal use: compare supported devices and browsers, autofill, passkeys, sharing with people who do not subscribe, recovery, alerts, import and export, and the recurring price in your region.
  • For a family: check the number of included users, private and shared vault arrangements, invitations, recovery options and what happens if the subscription ends.
  • For a business: map required identity, provisioning, guest access, auditing, developer secrets, privileged access and support to the exact plan tiers and add-ons. Ask each vendor for a written quote.

1Password’s consumer page provides clear public details about its Families plan. Keeper’s cited materials are more useful for evaluating business administration and privileged-access capabilities; current US consumer pricing for Keeper is not established in the cited sources.

Personal and family plans: what the published details show

1Password pricing and family features

As displayed on 1Password’s US plan page on October 7, 2026, Individual costs $2.99 per month and Families costs $4.49 per month with annual billing. The page also displays original prices of $3.99 and $5.99 per month, respectively. These are page prices, not a guarantee of what a future renewal will cost. The page advertises an additional 25% off the first 12 months for new subscribers who buy directly from 1Password.com with annual billing; the promotion is not available through app stores or other third-party stores. Both plans show a 14-day trial. See 1Password’s Individuals and Families plans.

1Password says Families includes five users, each with a private vault, shared vaults, simple administration and the ability to invite up to five family members. Its page also describes secure sharing with automatic expirations, password and passkey storage, Watchtower security alerts, and importing data from Keeper and other password managers. Check the live plan page for current terms before subscribing.

Keeper pricing needs a current regional check

The reviewed Keeper material does not provide a legible, current US consumer-price table for Personal or Families. A third-party comparison lists prices that differ from 1Password’s live displayed prices, but it does not resolve Keeper’s current US price, billing period or renewal terms. Do not treat an unverified price snapshot as a like-for-like quote. Check Keeper’s current checkout for your country and billing period before comparing the total cost.

Business use: compare administration, not just password storage

The products’ business feature descriptions point to different areas to investigate. 1Password’s business comparison highlights guest accounts, Watchtower and developer workflows. Keeper’s comparison emphasizes granular permissions, multiple identity providers in one tenant, KeeperPAM and related privileged-access capabilities. These descriptions do not establish that every feature is included in every plan.

Security: what the vendors describe—and what it does not prove

Both companies describe zero-knowledge approaches and AES-256 encryption. That shared terminology does not demonstrate that one service is categorically safer in real-world use. Architecture descriptions are vendor claims, not a substitute for your threat model or an independent comparative security test.

1Password says account data is protected using the account password together with a unique Secret Key created on the user’s device. Keeper describes encrypting individual records and folders with AES-256 keys, performing encryption and decryption locally, and using TLS 1.2/1.3 plus an additional AES transmission key; its comparison also mentions HSM integration. 1Password’s March 2026 comparison says both companies conduct regular third-party security audits. These details should be attributed to the vendors, and they do not justify describing either product as unhackable or assigning a blanket security ranking. 1Password’s comparison and Keeper’s comparison explain their respective claims.

Make the final comparison on your own requirements

  1. Choose the right use case. Decide whether you are buying for yourself, a household or an organization; do not compare a consumer plan with a business platform as though they were equivalent.
  2. List must-have features. For a household, include sharing, recovery, device support and passkeys. For a business, include identity controls, provisioning, audit needs, developer workflows and privileged access.
  3. Check plan boundaries. Confirm which tier includes each requirement, and whether guest access, support or advanced controls cost extra.
  4. Compare total recurring cost. Use the same country, user count, billing period and renewal assumptions. Separate a first-year promotion from the price after it ends.
  5. Test the migration path. 1Password says it supports importing from Keeper. Check the export and import steps, then verify that records and shared access landed correctly before relying on the new vault.

TechRadar’s comparison is another independent overview, but its price snapshot differs from 1Password’s current displayed plan page and does not establish a current Keeper US price. Use it for context, not as a substitute for current vendor checkout terms: TechRadar’s 1Password vs Keeper comparison.
