Why these riddles can feel trickier than they are

Several answers depend on a familiar word having more than one meaning. A piano has musical “keys,” a needle has an “eye,” a clock has “hands,” and a bottle has a “neck.” The wording encourages a literal interpretation, while the answer uses a different sense of the word.

Other riddles point to ordinary objects or ideas: an egg, towel, coin, postage stamp, hole, map, or future. The apparent difficulty often comes from assuming the question must hide a complicated trick. Once the intended meaning clicks, the answer can seem obvious in hindsight.
