Vivaldi’s desktop browser has built-in tools for organizing tabs, finding pages, and repeating actions. These 10 practical workflows show where to find them and when each one is useful. Menu names and shortcut defaults can vary by operating system and version.
1. How do I separate tabs by topic?
Create a Workspace for each context
Use Workspaces to group tabs around a subject such as work, research, or school. Create a Workspace from the Workspaces control or the tab context menu, then switch between Workspaces from the menu, Quick Commands, a keyboard shortcut, or a configured gesture. The benefit is a cleaner view of the tabs relevant to the task at hand.
A Workspace can be open in only one browser window at a time, so it is not a separate copy of the same tab group for every window. See Vivaldi’s Workspaces guide.

2. How do I find a tab or browser command quickly?
Use Quick Commands as a browser launcher
Open Quick Commands with F2 on Windows and Linux, or Command-E on macOS. Start typing to search across open tabs, history, bookmarks, notes, closed tabs, Workspaces, and browser commands. Select the result to open it or run the command.
#1 Best Overall
This is especially useful when a tab is buried in a long tab bar: searching by page title or address is often more direct than scanning visually. Vivaldi documents the feature and its settings in its Quick Commands help page.
3. Can I automate a repeated sequence of browser actions?
Build a Command Chain
For actions you regularly perform in sequence, create a Command Chain in Settings > Quick Commands > Command Chains. Add the commands in the order you want them to run, then test the chain. Vivaldi’s documented example combines Reader View with fullscreen mode.
Once configured, launch a chain through Quick Commands, a keyboard shortcut, a mouse gesture, or a toolbar button. Chains take setup, so they are most useful when the same sequence comes up repeatedly. See Vivaldi’s Command Chains guide.

4. How do I keep a frequently checked site close by?
Add it as a Web Panel
A Web Panel loads a chosen site in Vivaldi’s side panel, giving you access without switching away from the main tab. Add a site from an open tab or through the site information control, then open it from the panel. If the page needs more room, adjust the panel width separately.
Web Panels are suited to one site you revisit; they do not show several pages side by side. For setup details, see the Web Panels guide.
5. How can I inspect tabs across browser windows?
Open the Windows and Tabs Panel
The Windows and Tabs Panel presents tabs from your browser windows in a tree, which can make a large collection easier to inspect than the tab bar alone. Use it to move tabs between windows or create tab stacks. It is useful when you want an overview of your open pages and how they are arranged. Vivaldi explains the panel in its Windows and Tabs Panel guide.

6. How do I select several tabs at once?
Select a range or individual tabs
- Select a range: Hold Shift and click the first and last tab in the range.
- Select individual tabs: Hold Ctrl and click each tab on Windows or Linux; on macOS, use Command-click.
After selecting tabs, you can act on the group by stacking, tiling, bookmarking, or pinning it. The Windows and Tabs Panel also offers ways to work with tab groups. See Vivaldi’s tab-selection guide and tab features reference.
7. How do I compare pages side by side?
Tile the tabs you want to see together
Select the tabs to compare, then choose a tiling arrangement: vertical, horizontal, grid, or a custom layout. Resize panes as needed. Tiling is useful for comparing sources or keeping a reference page visible while you work, but it uses more screen space than viewing one tab at a time.
For instructions on arranging and resizing tiled pages, see Vivaldi’s Tab Tiling guide.

8. How do I perform frequent actions without reaching for menus?
Configure mouse gestures—or use a shortcut
Vivaldi supports configurable mouse gestures for actions such as going back, closing a tab, opening a link in a new tab, or running a Command Chain. Gestures can be convenient when your hand is already on the mouse; if you prefer keyboard input, use a shortcut instead. Both gestures and shortcuts can be configured, so check the settings in your desktop version for the action you want.
Vivaldi covers gestures alongside other accessibility and input settings in its accessibility features guide; Command Chain launch options are described in the Command Chains guide.

Use tab search or tab cycling
Quick Commands can search open tabs by name. You can also use tab suggestions from the address field or cycle through tabs with the relevant shortcuts and settings. Quick Commands is a good fit when you know part of a page’s title; cycling is useful when you want to move through tabs in sequence.
Shortcut notation and defaults depend on the operating system and settings. Consult the Quick Commands help page and tab-selection reference for the options available in your version.
10. How can I reopen a tab I just closed?
Restore it from Closed Tabs
Open the Closed Tabs control to see recently closed tabs and windows from the latest session, then choose the item to reopen. Closed Tabs is intended for recent recovery, not as a permanent archive: closing and restarting the browser multiple times erases that history. Vivaldi’s opening and closing tabs guide describes the recovery control.
