Puramufti police have registered a case after a complaint alleging irregularities in land sale deeds and revenue records across parts of Prayagraj. Hindustan Times reported on 3 October 2026 that the investigation was underway. The claims, including an alleged link to Atiq Ahmed’s wealth, have not been established by a court.
What Puramufti police have confirmed
Hindustan Times reported that Puramufti police registered a case following a complaint by Shah Faisal, a resident of Rasulpur Mariadih. Station House Officer Shantanu Singh confirmed the case registration and said an investigation was underway, according to the report.
The report does not give an FIR number or reproduce the FIR. It also does not state which legal sections were invoked or describe any court finding.

What the complaint alleges about the land and records
According to Hindustan Times’ account of Faisal’s complaint, he claims to own ancestral land in Ponghat, Bamrauli, Rasulpur Mariadih, and Rasulpur Kashipur. He alleged that people repeatedly tried to encroach on his property during the six months before the complaint and that police intervention stopped those attempts. The report does not independently verify his ownership or the alleged encroachments.
Faisal also said that a review of revenue records led him to allege irregularities involving more than 100 plots. As described in the report, his complaint alleges that some sale deeds covered more land than had actually been purchased, and that discrepancies appeared in mutation records and the khatauni. He said those records facilitated encroachment involving Gram Sabha land, barren tracts, drains, and private plots. These are claims in the complaint; the report does not establish that the transactions or encroachments occurred as alleged.
What is the reported connection to Atiq Ahmed?
The complaint reportedly describes Mohammad Rashid as Atiq Ahmed’s cousin and alleges that the two had longstanding ties. Faisal cited an audio clip that he said featured Atiq Ahmed and Mohammad Zaid Khalid discussing land in Rasulpur Kashipur and a property called Lal Bangla.
Hindustan Times’ report does not authenticate the recording or establish what it contains. The alleged relationship, conversation, and connection to Atiq Ahmed’s wealth should therefore be understood as claims reported from the complaint, not verified findings. Faisal requested a comprehensive investigation into property transactions and associated financial accounts.
