Zipline’s First Flight drone-delivery program reportedly opened in Austin on October 9, 2026, with service beginning in Round Rock. The launch and its early-access offer have been reported by Unite.AI; Zipline’s earlier company announcement said Austin service was planned for the coming months, but did not confirm the opening date or launch area.
Is Zipline drone delivery available in Austin?
According to Unite.AI’s October 9, 2026 report, Zipline opened First Flight in Austin that day. The rollout starts in Round Rock, with availability expected to expand across the Austin area over time. The report says customers can register through the Zipline app.
Zipline’s July 14, 2026 announcement had said the company planned to launch Austin operations “in the coming months,” offering food and retail deliveries from local businesses through its app. That announcement described the plan; it did not establish the October 9 opening date. Zipline also said delivery could be available “in as little as five minutes,” a company claim about planned service rather than an independently verified delivery-time guarantee. Where does First Flight start delivering?
The reported initial launch area is Round Rock. The reporting says Zipline expects to expand service across Austin over time, but does not establish a complete launch-day coverage map or identify which individual addresses can order.

The FAA’s environmental-review page lists Zipline’s proposed commercial package-delivery operations in Austin and four other Texas metropolitan areas. The FAA says it signed a Finding of No Significant Impact/Record of Decision on June 1, 2026. That environmental decision is not proof of every operational authorization and does not show whether a particular home or business is eligible for delivery. Is Austin delivery available through Uber Eats?
Not on the basis of the First Flight opening report. Uber and Zipline announced a separate partnership on August 17, 2026, saying Uber Eats drone delivery would first deploy later in 2026 across existing Zipline markets, with expansion into dozens of U.S. cities targeted. The announcement does not establish that Uber Eats ordering was available in Austin when First Flight opened. Its stated goal of one million drone deliveries per day by the end of 2029 is a future target, not a current service level. Read the Uber and Zipline partnership announcement.
