Zaylo V2 is presented as open-source software for running AI workloads on hardware you already own. Its announcement highlights three additions—RAG support, vision-model support, and automatic process recovery—but does not publish minimum hardware requirements, supported operating systems, setup instructions, or performance figures. Check the current project documentation before deciding whether your computer is compatible.
What Zaylo V2 is meant to do
Zaylo is described as software that turns an existing laptop, workstation, or PC into a local AI server. The goal is to run workloads on your own machine rather than depend entirely on external infrastructure. That describes the project’s intent; it does not establish that every workload stays offline or that local operation automatically guarantees privacy.
The announcement points to the LoftyTechLabs GitHub repository and describes Zaylo as open source. It does not identify a specific hardware product or upgrade: the premise is to make use of a computer you already have.

The announcement names three changes in V2:
- RAG support: The project says local AI systems can work with a user’s own data and knowledge sources. The announcement does not explain what data sources, indexing methods, or configuration options are supported.
- Vision models: Zaylo says it supports models capable of vision and multimodal workloads. It does not name compatible models or describe their resource needs.
- Process auto-recovery: This is intended to make long-running local AI processes more resilient after interruption or failure. The announcement does not specify which failures it handles or how recovery works.
What the announcement does not establish
The only hardware guidance is that an older laptop, workstation, or PC may work if it has sufficient CPU, RAM, or GPU resources. No minimum or recommended specifications are provided, so there is no sound basis to assume a particular computer can run a particular model.

- Dell Precision 7920 Tower Workstation
- 2x Intel Xeon Gold 6130 16-Core 2.1GHz (3.7GHz Turbo)
- 192GB DDR4 Memory - upgradable to 1.5TB
- 2x 1TB SSD + 2x 4TB HDD (Removable Hot Swap Drive bays)
- Nvidia Quadro P1000 4GB - Windows 11 Professional 64-bit
The announcement also does not state supported operating systems, inference runtimes, model formats, installation steps, network or API behavior, or expected speed. Those are essential details to confirm in the current repository documentation before setup. Without them, a compatibility checklist or performance estimate would be guesswork.
What to check before using an existing computer
- Verify platform support. Check the project’s current documentation for supported operating systems and any required software dependencies.
- Match the model to the runtime. Confirm which inference runtimes and model formats Zaylo supports, then check that the model you want to use is compatible.
- Check resource requirements. Look for model-specific CPU, memory, and GPU requirements. The announcement provides no thresholds, and its general reference to CPU, RAM, or GPU is not a minimum-specification list.
- Understand data handling. For RAG or other workloads involving personal or sensitive information, verify where documents, prompts, logs, and model data are stored and whether any network services are involved. “Local” in the project description is not, by itself, a complete privacy guarantee.
- Review recovery behavior. If you need a process to keep running unattended, find out what interruptions auto-recovery covers and whether it requires additional configuration.
Until these details are confirmed, treat Zaylo V2 as a project announcement rather than a fully specified deployment recipe. Avoid buying components based on the announcement alone; it names no required or recommended upgrade.
