Cambridge Audio announced the Melomania A100 SE at a US launch price of $149—not $250. The company describes it as an evolution of the original A100, adding Dolby Audio. That price is an announced launch figure, not a verified live retail price or confirmation of current stock.
What the A100 SE is—and what the $250 claim gets wrong
The Melomania A100 SE is a new version of Cambridge Audio’s Melomania A100 true wireless earbuds. Cambridge Audio’s announcement says the SE adds Dolby Audio; it does not establish that the earbuds deliver sound quality equal to any particular $250 model. The supplied headline’s $250 framing therefore should not be read as the A100 SE’s price or as a verified comparison.
Cambridge Audio announced October 2026 availability through its website and approved retailers at £129, €149, $149, and HK$1280. The announcement does not verify current inventory, checkout prices, or a specific retailer listing. Cambridge Audio’s announcement is the primary source for those launch details.
What Cambridge Audio says is new
The company positions Dolby Audio as the SE’s key addition. Its announcement says the feature is intended to provide “a more natural, lifelike presentation” that feels less confined to “inside the head.” That is Cambridge Audio’s description, not an independent listening assessment.

- 10mm deep bass drivers
- aptX Lossless
- Up to 39 hours battery
- Adaptive Active Noise Cancelling
- Wireless Charging
The manufacturer also specifies Class A/B amplification and 10 mm Neodymium drivers, which it says are intended to deliver deeper bass, richer mids, and clear highs. Those are product claims; the available information does not independently verify sound quality or compare it with earbuds at other prices.
Specifications Cambridge Audio lists
| Feature | Manufacturer-listed detail |
|---|---|
| Audio hardware | Class A/B amplification; 10 mm Neodymium drivers |
| Audio feature | Dolby Audio |
| Noise control | Adaptive Hybrid ANC |
| Microphones | Six |
| Connections | Multipoint connection |
| Water resistance | IPX5 |
| Charging | Wireless and USB-C charging |

These are manufacturer specifications, not independently measured results. The announcement’s “up to 39 hours” is a maximum claim; the available information does not establish real-world runtime or the conditions behind that figure.

How the SE differs from the original A100
The original Melomania A100 remains a separate model. Cambridge Audio’s product page lists LDAC and aptX Lossless for the standard A100 and displayed a US price of $99 when accessed in 2026. That displayed price can change and is not the A100 SE’s launch price. Check the model name carefully when comparing listings: “A100” and “A100 SE” are not interchangeable.

What to check before buying
- Confirm the model: make sure a listing says Melomania A100 SE, not the original A100.
- Check the live price and stock: $149 is the manufacturer-announced US launch price, not a guaranteed current checkout price.
- Look for independent evidence that answers your priorities: a useful comparison should assess sound, ANC, battery life under stated conditions, codecs and spatial audio, fit, calls, water resistance, and app controls on comparable terms.
- Match claims to your use: IPX5 water resistance, multipoint, wireless charging, and the stated battery maximum may matter differently depending on how and where you plan to use the earbuds.
The published specifications and launch price give shoppers a clear starting point, but they do not settle how the A100 SE sounds in practice or whether it outperforms another model. Treat Cambridge Audio’s sound descriptions as the company’s claims and consult independent listening tests before using them to make a head-to-head judgment.
