Yandex reported serious damage and outages at two data centers in October 2026, but a Cloudflare chart of automated web requests does not show that Russian troll farms or social-media influence operations went quiet. The chart measures HTTP requests to web-page content from a network—not social-media accounts, posts, or operators—and the available evidence does not establish a verified drop in either YandexBot activity or influence operations.
What happened at Yandex’s data centers
In a statement dated October 9, 2026, Yandex said its Sasovo data center was seriously damaged in a drone attack overnight October 7–8 and had been completely shut down. The company also reported an attack on its Kaluga data center that morning, with part of that infrastructure out of service. Yandex said it was assessing the damage and could not yet say when the equipment would return online. Yandex’s statement attributes the account to “The Yandex Team,” not to a named individual.
That statement establishes disruption to Yandex infrastructure. It does not describe an effect on troll farms or identify social-media influence operations as users of the affected equipment.

Cloudflare Radar’s page for AS13238, named YANDEX, describes its “Bot vs. Human” panel as the distribution of automated and human HTTP requests to HTML content. In practical terms, it is a view of web-page requests associated with that network—not a count of social-media accounts, posts, comments, or political operators.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The page’s date window changes over time. A claim about a particular fall therefore needs a dated capture, a clear comparison period, and the chart’s metric and denominator. The live page alone is not a stable record of a past percentage.
“Bot traffic” does not necessarily mean social-media bots
“Bot” is a broad technical category for automated activity. One specifically named example is YandexBot, which Cloudflare lists as Yandex’s main search-indexing robot in the Search category. A crawler that visits web pages so a search engine can index them is not interchangeable with an account that posts on social media.

Cloudflare also explains that its bot score estimates how likely a request is to have come from a bot, based on detection systems and request features. The score does not identify political purpose or affiliation. Cloudflare’s bot-score documentation describes a technical classification, not a way to determine who is behind a request or why it was made.
Three Yandex-related measurements that should not be conflated
| Label | What it refers to | What it does not establish by itself |
|---|---|---|
| AS13238 | Yandex’s network as labeled on Cloudflare Radar; the cited panel shows automated versus human HTTP requests to HTML content. | The number or activity level of social-media accounts or influence operators. |
| AS200350 | YandexCloud’s network, identified separately from AS13238 in the reviewed technical analysis. | That activity observed on another Yandex-related network belongs to the same service, users, or operation. |
| YandexBot | A named Yandex search-indexing crawler listed by Cloudflare. | That crawler requests are social-media posts or evidence of political intent. |
The distinctions between AS13238, YandexCloud’s AS200350, and YandexBot are described in the October 10, 2026 HACKIN9.pl analysis. A chart or claim needs to identify which of these entities it actually measures.

Why the troll-farm conclusion is not supported
A traffic change on one network would not, on its own, show that a political influence operation slowed. The measured requests would need to be tied to the accounts or operation in question, and the comparison would need to use a defensible before-and-after period. The technical analysis cited above says the public evidence it reviewed did not establish that the outages caused a comparable fall in AS13238 traffic or YandexBot requests, and it found no reliable numerical comparison demonstrating a decline in Russian influence activity. That is an assessment of the sources reviewed at that time, not a permanent finding about future traffic.
A Bluesky post dated October 11, 2026, linked the AS13238 chart while discussing claims that Kremlin-controlled social-media bots or troll farms had gone silent. The post documents that the claim circulated; it does not independently prove a traffic trend. The post should not be treated as a verified measurement of influence activity.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
The evidence also does not rule out that some influence operators might have relied on infrastructure affected by the outages. It simply does not establish that connection. A coincident change in a chart cannot identify an operator or explain intent.

How to evaluate a viral bot-traffic chart
Before accepting a claim that a chart proves an influence operation changed, check the measurement itself and the link between the measurement and the alleged operation:
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
- Entity: Is the chart about an autonomous system, a cloud network, a named crawler, or a set of social-media accounts?
- Event and time window: What exact period is labeled before and after the event? Are the intervals comparable, and is the timezone clear?
- Unit and denominator: Does the graphic show requests, bytes, a share of requests, or account posts? A percentage without its baseline and denominator does not establish the size of a change.
- Coverage and classification: Which traffic does the service see, and how does it classify automated requests? A bot classification does not reveal political purpose.
- Independent link to the claim: Is there separate evidence connecting the measured traffic to the accounts or operation being discussed?
For site owners, Yandex Metrica offers a different, site-level view: its Robots report documentation describes robot activity recorded through a site’s Metrica tag, including counts and declared user-agent names. That can help diagnose robots visiting a particular tagged site; it is not a measure of social-media influence activity.
