Yes: xMEMS said on July 21, 2026, that its XMC-2400 µCooling chip is shipping and in mass production. The company says the chip is supporting its first smart-glasses design wins, but it has not named the glasses makers or consumer products. Its newer XMC-1200 is a separate model; engineering samples were available to qualified customers, with production readiness targeted for Q4 2027. xMEMS’ announcement is the latest production update.
What “bladeless cooling chip” means
xMEMS’ µCooling technology is an active, solid-state air mover built with piezoMEMS technology. It moves air to help remove heat, unlike a passive heat sink, but does not use the conventional rotating blades, motor or bearings found in a miniature rotary fan. “Bladeless” is a useful shorthand, not a claim that the chip cools without moving air.
The XMC-2400 was introduced as a thin, all-silicon chip for compact electronics. In its August 2024 launch announcement, xMEMS specified dimensions of 9.26 × 7.6 × 1.08 mm, weight below 150 mg, airflow up to 39 cm³/s at 1,000 Pa back pressure, and an IP58 rating. The models should not be conflated: XMC-1200’s newer announcement does not replace the XMC-2400 production update. The company’s July 2026 release is the source for both status statements.

What devices could use XMC-2400?
Small, thin devices are the intended market. A CES Innovation Awards page lists smartphones, tablets, laptops, wireless chargers and SSDs as example host devices, while company announcements also discuss smart glasses and compact electronics. These are application examples, not confirmation that a particular retail product contains the chip. The available sources name no consumer device currently sold with XMC-2400.
Smart glasses are a prominent use case because heat can affect comfort as well as performance. In June 2025, xMEMS said smart-glasses samples were available and forecast volume production for Q1 2026. That was a forecast at the time; the later July 2026 announcement is the evidence that XMC-2400 is now shipping and in mass production. Read the smart-glasses announcement.

The published figures describe different configurations and should not be treated as independent head-to-head results:

- For the distinct XMC-1200, xMEMS reported typical system power of 70 mW when paired with the Astra2 drive ASIC and up to a 10°C temperature reduction at a 1 W thermal load. Those figures are for that system, not XMC-2400. See the XMC-1200 announcement.
The XMC-2400 launch specifications include airflow and back pressure, but do not establish how much a particular finished device’s temperature will fall. Real results depend on the host device, heat load, physical integration and operating conditions. The available sources do not provide an independent XMC-2400 performance study or a head-to-head comparison with other cooling products.

How to evaluate a device that uses active micro-cooling
A chip’s headline airflow or temperature figure is not enough to predict performance in a finished product. For a meaningful comparison, look for the complete device and test conditions, including:
- The device’s heat load and workload during testing.
- Available volume and how the air mover is integrated into the enclosure.
- Airflow together with back pressure, rather than airflow alone.
- Measured temperatures under a clearly stated workload.
- Power use, acoustic behavior and vibration in the finished device.
Ask whether a performance figure is for a component, a modeled system or a physically verified finished configuration. A percentage improvement without its baseline and test conditions does not tell you how cool a retail product will run.

How the production timeline changed
- August 20, 2024: xMEMS introduced XMC-2400 and planned customer samples for Q1 2025. Launch announcement.
- June 24, 2025: The company said smart-glasses samples were available and forecast volume production for Q1 2026. Smart-glasses announcement.
- October 30, 2025: xMEMS announced a $21 million Series D financing round, saying it would accelerate mass production and commercialization. Funding was not itself confirmation that production had begun. Series D announcement.
- July 21, 2026: The company said XMC-2400 was shipping and in mass production, and that it was supporting first glasses design wins. It also gave the separate XMC-1200 engineering-sample status. Latest update.
What mass production does—and does not—tell buyers
Mass production means the component has moved beyond the earlier sampling and forecast stages, according to xMEMS. It does not establish that a named glasses model is on sale, that every design win has shipped, or that buyers can purchase the chip individually. The company has not named the glasses products in the cited announcement, and the listed host-device categories should not be mistaken for confirmed implementations.
For now, XMC-2400 is best understood as an OEM component with a reported production milestone, not a consumer upgrade a reader can select or install. The available sources do not establish a retail listing, compatible accessory or independently confirmed product containing it.
