Choose the Xiaomi Smart Band 10 if you want a larger screen, more listed activity modes and substantially less frequent charging, and you normally carry your phone. Choose the Fitbit Charge 6 if you need route tracking without a phone, built-in GPS and GLONASS, or Fitbit’s documented ECG, EDA and Google-connected features. The two are the closest screen-equipped comparison; Google’s newer Fitbit Air is screenless, so it is an alternative form factor rather than a direct rival.
“Latest” and “a Fitbit” are ambiguous. Xiaomi’s current official result for this category is Smart Band 10, while Google’s tracker catalog lists both Charge 6 and Fitbit Air. Check local stock, prices, supported features and membership requirements before buying.
The short answer
The most important difference is positioning. Smart Band 10 does not contain standalone GPS according to TechRadar’s review; it uses your phone’s location services for movement tracking. Charge 6 includes GPS and GLONASS and can record pace and distance without a phone. For phone-free runs, hikes or rides, Charge 6 is the practical choice.

Xiaomi publishes an estimate of up to 21 days for Smart Band 10, with separate test scenarios and a warning that actual results vary. TechRadar reports 18–19 days from its review unit. Google rates Charge 6 for up to seven days, with always-on display and SpO2 use requiring more frequent charging. Those figures come from different methods and dates, so they are directional rather than a controlled head-to-head test.

| Decision factor | Xiaomi Smart Band 10 | Fitbit Charge 6 | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standalone location tracking | No built-in GPS reported by TechRadar; uses a connected phone | Built-in GPS and GLONASS | Charge 6 is better for phone-free routes. |
| Battery claim | Up to 21 days manufacturer estimate; 18–19 days in one TechRadar review | Up to seven days according to Google | Smart Band 10 should need fewer charging sessions, but usage and settings matter. |
| Workout modes | More than 150 reported by TechRadar; metrics vary by activity | 40+ listed by Google, plus Active Zone Minutes and cardio fitness score | Compare the activities and measurements you actually use, not just the totals. |
| Screen | 1.72-inch AMOLED display, according to TechRadar | AMOLED display | Both are screen-equipped bands; Smart Band 10 offers the larger published size. |
| Health features | Heart-rate, sleep and other tracking described in review coverage | ECG app compatibility, EDA Scan, SpO2, skin-temperature variation and other Fitbit features, with availability limits | Charge 6 has the more extensively documented health feature set. |
| Phone requirements | Mi Fitness; Android 8.0 or later and iOS 14.0 or later on Xiaomi’s Australia specification page | Google Health; Android 11 or later and iOS 16.4 or later on Google’s specification page | Check your phone’s operating-system version before ordering. |
| Water rating | 5ATM class; Xiaomi excludes hot showers, saunas and diving | 50 m/5ATM design; intended for shallow water and not permanently waterproof | Neither rating means unrestricted water use. |
For measurement accuracy, there is no directly comparable independent accuracy study establishing a winner between these two devices in the available material. Do not turn a larger mode count or a manufacturer accuracy statement into proof that one tracker measures every activity better.
What “Xiaomi’s latest tracker” and “a Fitbit” mean here
Xiaomi Smart Band 10 is the relevant Xiaomi model
Xiaomi’s official Smart Band 10 specification page identifies the model’s compatibility, display and water-resistance information. Its product material gives battery-life estimates under different usage conditions rather than one universal runtime. Because battery behavior depends on display settings, sensors, notifications and workouts, use the estimate as a planning range, not a guarantee. See Xiaomi’s Smart Band 10 specifications.
Charge 6 is the fair screen-to-screen Fitbit comparison
Charge 6 is a wrist-worn tracker with an AMOLED display, onboard positioning and Fitbit’s health and exercise software. Google’s current technical specification page lists its operating-system requirements, water rating, battery estimate and sensor-related qualifications. See Google’s Charge 6 specifications.

Google also lists Fitbit Air in its tracker catalog. Its design is screenless, so it is aimed at people who prefer an unobtrusive device and are willing to view data in the phone app. It should not be treated as a display-to-display alternative to Smart Band 10 or Charge 6. Check Google’s current tracker catalog and Fitbit Air specifications.
Does the Xiaomi Smart Band 10 have GPS?
Not as a standalone receiver, according to TechRadar’s Smart Band 10 review. The band relies on a connected phone’s positioning for movement tracking. You can therefore record a route when your phone is with you and connected, but the band is not a substitute for a phone-free GPS watch or tracker. Read TechRadar’s Smart Band 10 review.

- COMPLETE ALL-IN-ONE-BUNDLE: Includes Fitbit Charge 6 Black/Obsidian, rapid USB charger, and a premium microfiber cleaning cloth, – everything you need to start tracking in style.
Charge 6 has built-in GPS and GLONASS. Google says it can show pace and distance without carrying a phone. That matters for runners who want to leave a phone at home, for outdoor sessions where carrying a phone is inconvenient, and for anyone who wants the tracker to retain route information independently during a workout.
Choose based on how you exercise
- Phone-free outdoor exercise: Choose Charge 6 because its own satellite hardware can record the route.
- Indoor training or phone-carried workouts: Smart Band 10’s dependence on the phone is less significant.
- Mixed use: Decide how often you genuinely leave the phone behind; occasional use may not justify giving up Smart Band 10’s battery advantage.
How long does the battery last?
Smart Band 10
Xiaomi’s published material gives scenario-specific testing for typical use, always-on-display use and heavier loads, and cautions that real battery life varies. TechRadar reports Xiaomi’s official estimate as up to 21 days and says its review unit lasted 18–19 days in the reviewer’s use. The review result is one unit’s experience, not a controlled comparison with Charge 6. Review Xiaomi’s product information.
Charge 6
Google lists Charge 6 at up to seven days. Google also notes that always-on display and SpO2 use can require more frequent charging. The estimate is approximate, based on mid-2023 testing with pre-production hardware and software, and varies with features and usage. Read the qualification on Google’s specification page.
Why the numbers should not be treated as a laboratory race
The Xiaomi and Google figures differ in test conditions, hardware and reporting dates. Smart Band 10’s 21-day number is a manufacturer scenario estimate; 18–19 days is a TechRadar observation; Charge 6’s seven-day figure is Google’s approximate estimate from pre-production testing. The honest conclusion is that Smart Band 10 is likely to require fewer charging interruptions, while Charge 6 trades runtime for its GPS and sensor feature set.
Display and everyday form
Smart Band 10 uses a 1.72-inch AMOLED display according to TechRadar. A larger display can make notifications, workout numbers and on-device menus easier to read, although it may also make the band feel more substantial on a small wrist. Charge 6 also uses an AMOLED display, but the supplied specifications do not establish a directly comparable screen-size figure here.

Both devices are trackers rather than full smartwatches. Expect a focused interface for activity, health summaries, notifications and selected connected functions, not the broad app and communication capabilities of a general-purpose smartwatch. If your priority is seeing data on your wrist, either model fits better than screenless Fitbit Air.

Smart Band 10’s 150-plus modes
TechRadar reports more than 150 exercise modes for Smart Band 10. The review also notes that metrics differ by activity and that many modes mainly log time and heart rate. A long list can be useful when it gives an activity the right label and summary, but the count alone does not show that every mode has specialized sensors or equivalent analytical depth.
Charge 6’s 40-plus modes and Fitbit measures
Google lists more than 40 exercise modes for Charge 6, alongside Active Zone Minutes and a cardio fitness score. Those named measures may be more useful than a raw mode count if you train around heart-rate zones or want a consistent fitness summary. See Google’s Charge 6 feature list.
How to compare your own activities
- Write down the activities you do most often, such as running, cycling, swimming, strength training or walking.
- Check whether each device supports those activities and what it records for them: route, pace, distance, duration, heart rate or only a basic log.
- Give more weight to the measurements you will use after a workout than to the total number of modes advertised.
- For outdoor sessions, decide whether phone-dependent GPS is acceptable before considering secondary differences.
Health and sensor features
What Smart Band 10 documents
Review coverage describes Smart Band 10 as tracking heart rate, sleep and other everyday metrics. Those features can help you observe trends, but they are not a medical diagnosis and the available material does not establish comparative clinical accuracy against Charge 6.
What Charge 6 adds
Google describes Charge 6 as compatible with an ECG app and EDA Scan, and lists SpO2 and skin-temperature variation among its health-related capabilities. Google also promotes Google Maps and Google Wallet integration. A Daily Readiness Score is available with Google Health Premium. Feature availability can depend on country, compatible phone, app version and membership, so confirm that the specific function is offered where you live and under the plan you intend to use.

An ECG-capable sensor does not mean the tracker replaces professional medical equipment or advice. Treat readings as personal wellness information unless a qualified clinician tells you otherwise.
Phone, app and account compatibility
Smart Band 10 requirements
Xiaomi lists Android 8.0 or later and iOS 14.0 or later, with the Mi Fitness app, on its Australia specification page. Older phones may technically meet the operating-system minimum while still providing a less reliable experience if they have limited storage, aggressive background-app restrictions or outdated Bluetooth support.
Charge 6 requirements
Google lists Android 11 or later and iOS 16.4 or later for Charge 6 and identifies Google Health as the companion environment. These are higher minimum versions than Xiaomi’s published requirements. Verify your exact phone model, operating-system version and the current app listing before purchase, especially if you use an older iPhone or Android handset.
Practical compatibility checklist
- Confirm the phone meets the stated operating-system minimum.
- Install the current companion app before buying if your app store permits a compatibility check.
- Allow Bluetooth and background activity so synchronization can continue.
- Check whether region-specific features such as ECG, EDA, Wallet, Maps or Daily Readiness are enabled in your country.
- Make sure you are comfortable with the required account and any paid membership attached to a feature you consider essential.
Water resistance: what 5ATM and 50 metres do—and do not—mean
Smart Band 10 is described as 5ATM class for swimming and shallow-water use. Xiaomi specifically excludes hot showers, saunas and diving. Heat, steam, pressure changes and chemicals can exceed the conditions represented by a laboratory water-resistance rating.
Charge 6 is described as a 50-metre/5ATM device intended for shallow water. Google cautions that it should not be called waterproof and that resistance can diminish over time. Neither tracker should be used for diving, and water exposure should follow the manufacturer’s restrictions rather than the number printed in the specification.

A Smart Band 10 strap caveat
TechRadar’s reviewer reported that the included fluororubber band’s clasp came undone during workouts and sometimes caused the unit to fall off. That is an observation from one review unit, not evidence that every Smart Band 10 has the same defect. If you choose Xiaomi, inspect the clasp before vigorous exercise and consider a compatible replacement strap if it does not hold securely. Do not assume a third-party strap will fit unless its compatibility is explicitly stated.
Which should you choose?
Choose Xiaomi Smart Band 10 when these priorities dominate
- You want a clearly visible, larger published display for a tracker.
- You value a long manufacturer battery estimate and want to charge less often.
- You like having a large menu of activity profiles.
- You normally carry your phone during outdoor workouts, so phone-assisted positioning is acceptable.
- Your phone runs Android 8.0 or later or iOS 14.0 or later and you are happy to use Mi Fitness.
Choose Fitbit Charge 6 when these priorities dominate
- You need built-in GPS and GLONASS for phone-free pace, distance and route recording.
- You want the documented Fitbit feature set, including ECG app compatibility, EDA Scan, Active Zone Minutes and cardio fitness score.
- You use or want Google Maps and Google Wallet on the tracker.
- You accept a shorter official battery estimate in exchange for those sensors and connected features.
- Your phone meets Android 11 or iOS 16.4 requirements and the relevant health features are available in your region.
Choose a screenless Fitbit alternative only if the display trade-off is intentional
Fitbit Air belongs in the decision only when your main goal is a less conspicuous tracker and you are comfortable checking results on a phone. It does not answer the same need as a screen-equipped band, so choosing it means giving up at-a-glance workout and notification information.
Buying and setup checks before you pay
- Identify the workout scenario: Decide whether you need phone-free GPS. This single answer often narrows the choice immediately.
- Check your phone: Compare your Android or iOS version with the manufacturer minimum for the model you are considering.
- Check the feature’s regional status: Confirm ECG, EDA, SpO2, skin-temperature variation, Maps, Wallet and Daily Readiness availability in your country and account plan.
- Choose your charging tolerance: If forgetting a charger is a recurring problem, Smart Band 10’s longer estimate may be more valuable than additional sensors.
- Inspect water-use needs: Swimming and shallow water fit the stated ratings; hot water, steam and diving do not.
- Confirm fit and retention: A secure clasp matters more than a theoretical feature when the tracker can fall off during a run.
- Compare live local prices and stock: Prices and availability change by country and retailer; the cited pages do not establish one current global price comparison.
Accuracy, evidence and realistic expectations
Neither the published mode count nor the presence of an ECG-capable sensor proves that one device is universally more accurate. Different activities, wrist fit, movement, skin contact, software versions and phone conditions affect readings. The available sources do not provide a named, directly comparable independent accuracy study for Smart Band 10 versus Charge 6, so a precise accuracy winner would be unsupported.
Use these trackers primarily for trends and training feedback. For symptoms, medical decisions or an unexpectedly concerning reading, use appropriate clinical equipment and professional advice rather than treating a consumer band as a diagnostic instrument.
Verdict
For most buyers, the choice is straightforward: Smart Band 10 for battery life, a larger display and broad activity labeling when your phone can provide GPS; Charge 6 for standalone GPS, GLONASS and Fitbit’s broader documented health-and-Google feature set. Fitbit Air is worth considering only if you specifically want a screenless design. Recheck regional pricing, inventory, app requirements and feature availability immediately before ordering.
