The Redmi 15 5G and vivo Y31 5G suit different priorities: Xiaomi lists a larger, sharper, faster-refresh display, a higher-capacity battery and a stated software-update commitment; vivo lists faster charging and IP68/IP69 protection ratings. Their prices are not a settled like-for-like comparison, so check the same memory configuration and seller before choosing.

Which display is better for your use?
The Redmi 15 5G has the larger listed screen, higher resolution and higher maximum refresh rate. Its 6.9-inch FHD+ panel has 2340 × 1080 pixels and reaches up to 144 Hz; the vivo Y31 5G’s 6.68-inch LCD is 1608 × 720 and reaches up to 120 Hz. Those differences favor the Redmi on screen area, pixel count and listed refresh ceiling.
Brightness is a separate consideration: vivo lists 1,000 nits in HBM mode. That figure does not make the Y31’s lower resolution disappear, nor does it establish how the two screens look in every lighting condition. Choose based on the combination you value, rather than treating refresh rate or brightness as a complete measure of display quality.

Battery capacity versus charging speed
Xiaomi lists a 7,000 mAh typical battery and 33 W charging for the Redmi. vivo lists 6,500 mAh typical capacity and 6,355 mAh rated capacity for the Y31 5G, alongside 44 W FlashCharge. The Redmi therefore has the larger stated capacity, while the vivo has the higher stated charging wattage.
Neither capacity nor charging wattage establishes actual battery life or time to recharge. vivo says charging power adjusts dynamically, and actual use can vary; Xiaomi lists 33 W charging and includes a charger in the box. Durability: IP64 versus IP68/IP69
The Redmi 15 5G is listed as IP64, while vivo gives the Y31 5G IP68/IP69 ratings. On the stated ratings, vivo claims the higher level of ingress protection. Treat the numbers as protection ratings under specified test conditions—not as a promise that either phone is waterproof or safe in every exposure.

vivo’s Y31 5G parameter page includes conditions and cautions for water exposure and says liquid damage is not covered by warranty. Do not assume that a rating guarantees warranty coverage after liquid damage.
Performance, memory and storage options
The Redmi uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 3; the Y31 5G uses Snapdragon 4 Gen 2. The listed processor names alone do not establish which phone performs better in a particular app or game. No independent head-to-head performance measurements are available here, so treat these as hardware specifications rather than a benchmark verdict.
Configuration matters when comparing prices and expected storage behavior. Redmi choices are 6 GB RAM with 128 GB storage or 8 GB with 256 GB, using UFS 2.2. vivo offers 4 GB + 128 GB, 6 GB + 128 GB or 6 GB + 256 GB, with eMMC 5.1 listed. The vivo parameter page notes that available memory may be lower because of the operating system and preinstalled apps, and that some specifications may vary across production batches.

Cameras and software support
Both phones list a 50 MP primary rear camera and an 8 MP front camera. vivo also lists a 0.08 MP rear sensor. Megapixel counts and camera count do not establish image quality; the listed specifications do not provide a basis for a tested camera-quality ranking.

Prices are volatile and the available figures do not establish a current, like-for-like gap. On a 91mobiles comparison page, accessed October 7, 2026, the Redmi 15 5G was shown at ₹21,499 at Amazon and the vivo Y31 5G at ₹19,999 at Flipkart. The listings may represent different RAM and storage configurations.

Separately, the vivo India Store page, accessed October 7, 2026, displayed ₹27,999 for a selected 6 GB + 128 GB Y31 5G variant and marked it unavailable. That is not an available transaction price. The conflicting seller snapshots should not be presented as proof that one phone currently costs a particular amount more.
Before buying, compare the same RAM and storage configuration on the same day, and check seller, stock, bank offers and any other conditions affecting checkout price. A lower price for a different configuration is not an apples-to-apples saving.
Which phone should you choose?
- Choose the Redmi 15 5G if you prioritize a larger, higher-resolution display, a higher listed refresh ceiling, larger stated battery capacity, or a published software-update duration.
- Choose the vivo Y31 5G if you prioritize higher stated charging wattage or its IP68/IP69 ratings, while following vivo’s exposure cautions.
- Compare exact variants before paying if price is decisive: their RAM and storage options differ, and the cited seller prices are not verified as current, equivalent offers.
These are specification-based trade-offs, not a substitute for independent battery, camera, performance or durability testing.
