The Xiaomi 17T and TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G share a listed 6500mAh battery, but emphasize different features. Xiaomi lists a smaller 6.59-inch screen, a Dimensity 8500-Ultra processor, 67W wired charging and a telephoto camera. TECNO lists a larger 6.78-inch, up-to-144Hz screen and 45W charging. Which is the better fit depends on whether you value screen size and refresh rate or the Xiaomi’s listed processor tier, charging power and telephoto hardware.
At a glance: how the listed specs differ
| Feature | Xiaomi 17T | TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G |
|---|---|---|
| Display | 6.59-inch AMOLED; 2756 × 1268; up to 120Hz, according to Xiaomi’s specifications. | 6.78-inch AMOLED; 2644 × 1208; up to 144Hz, according to TECNO’s specifications. |
| Processor | MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra. | MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate 5G. |
| Memory and storage | 12GB RAM; 256GB or 512GB storage. | 256GB or 512GB storage options; listed RAM combinations include physical and extended memory. |
| Battery and wired charging | 6500mAh; 67W HyperCharge. | 6500mAh; 45W Super Charge. |
| Rear cameras | Includes a telephoto camera; Xiaomi’s product page describes a 50MP 5x periscope telephoto camera, and its specifications list a 12MP ultra-wide. | 50MP OIS main camera and 8MP ultra-wide, according to TECNO’s specifications. |
| Front camera | not stated in the cited Xiaomi specifications. | 13MP, according to TECNO’s specifications. |
These are manufacturer-listed specifications, not independent measurements. They establish hardware differences, but do not by themselves show which phone has the better display, camera output, battery life or sustained performance.
Which screen suits you better?
The POVA 8 Pro 5G has the larger listed panel at 6.78 inches, compared with 6.59 inches for the Xiaomi 17T. That extra screen area may be useful for video, reading or games where a larger image matters. TECNO also lists a maximum 144Hz refresh rate, versus Xiaomi’s up-to-120Hz figure.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Xiaomi lists the higher pixel dimensions: 2756 × 1268, against TECNO’s 2644 × 1208. Resolution and refresh rate are only parts of display quality; the figures here do not establish brightness, color accuracy, outdoor visibility or how often either phone reaches its maximum refresh rate. Choose based on the size and specification combination you want, and look for independent display measurements if image quality is a deciding factor.

What do the processor and memory figures tell you?
The listed chips are the MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra in the Xiaomi 17T and Dimensity 7400 Ultimate 5G in the TECNO. Those names distinguish the hardware, but clock figures or chipset labels are not a substitute for comparable benchmarks. No same-method benchmark results or sustained-use tests are established here, so a performance winner cannot be responsibly declared from these specifications alone.
Xiaomi specifies 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage. TECNO lists 256GB or 512GB storage and RAM configurations that combine physical RAM with extended RAM. Extended RAM is a software-managed memory feature, not additional physical RAM of the same kind; do not compare the combined figure as though it were all installed physical memory. Check the precise configuration sold in your region before buying.

How do their batteries and charging compare?
Both manufacturers list a 6500mAh battery. Xiaomi specifies 67W HyperCharge, while TECNO specifies 45W Super Charge. The higher advertised wattage gives Xiaomi the advantage on listed wired charging power, but it does not establish a particular charging time. Real charging speed depends on factors such as the charger, cable, charging protocol, temperature and battery level.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Xiaomi says a power adapter is not included in the box and recommends a Xiaomi 67W adapter or above; its specifications also mention PPS-compatible adapters up to 50W. For TECNO, confirm what charger is supplied with the exact regional package. Battery capacity and charging figures cannot predict endurance in everyday use; that requires comparable testing.

Which camera setup offers more flexibility?
The most notable listed difference is the Xiaomi’s telephoto camera. Xiaomi’s product page describes a 50MP 5x periscope telephoto camera, while its specifications list a 12MP ultra-wide. TECNO specifies a 50MP OIS main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide and a 13MP front camera.
These configurations suggest different hardware options, not a proven image-quality ranking. Megapixel counts, stabilization and zoom labels do not show how photos look across lighting conditions, subjects or video use. If camera quality is central to your choice, compare sample photos and video from credible reviewers using the exact models available in your market.

Is either phone cheaper, and what about durability?
A reliable current price difference is not established for a specified country or matching configurations. Prices can vary by market, storage capacity, seller, taxes, promotions and date. To compare fairly, check listings for the same storage size from comparable sellers in your country on the same day; avoid treating an older comparison-page snippet as a current quote.
TECNO’s product page advertises IP69K/69/68/66 dust and water resistance. Before relying on that claim, verify the wording for the exact regional variant, the applicable certification and the warranty’s liquid-damage exclusions. The available specification information does not establish equivalent Xiaomi durability ratings.

Which one should you choose?
- Consider the Xiaomi 17T if its listed Dimensity 8500-Ultra processor, 67W charging or telephoto camera matches your priorities, and you prefer a smaller screen than TECNO’s.
- Consider the TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G if you want the larger listed display and up-to-144Hz refresh rate, or if its regional price and verified durability terms make it a better fit.
- Compare locally before deciding if price is the deciding factor: match storage capacities, sellers and purchase dates, and confirm regional model details, charger inclusion and warranty coverage.
Neither set of specifications proves a categorical winner. Independent, comparable testing is needed to settle real-world camera quality, battery endurance, display performance and sustained speed.
