The Xiaomi 17T is the more fully specified choice in the available official global material: it has a 6.59-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, a Dimensity 8500-Ultra chip, a 6,500mAh typical battery, 67W wired charging and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera. Xiaomi positions the Xiaomi 17 as a separate flagship-series model associated with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and HyperOS 3, but the available official pages do not provide a same-country, same-date price pair. To decide whether the Xiaomi 17 is worth more, compare the exact local configurations and current tax-inclusive prices—not launch prices or currency conversions.

This is not a complete side-by-side benchmark or camera test. Xiaomi’s published specifications identify hardware and rated features, but they do not establish which phone is faster in a particular workload, lasts longer in independent testing, or takes better photographs.
What the Xiaomi 17T’s hardware means in practice
Display and size
The 17T’s 6.59-inch panel is a large, high-resolution 120Hz AMOLED display. Xiaomi’s peak-brightness figure is conditional rather than a promise of sustained brightness across the whole screen or in every mode. Its stated 200g weight and 157.6 × 75.2 × 8.17mm dimensions provide a useful reference when judging pocketability; dimensions and weight are manufacturer-listed figures, with the weight based on Xiaomi internal testing.
Recommended Free Tools
Processor and software
The 17T uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500-Ultra on a 4nm process and is listed with HyperOS 3. Xiaomi’s corporate material associates the Xiaomi 17 Series with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and HyperOS 3. That platform distinction is meaningful if you are choosing between chip ecosystems or particular device features, but it is not enough on its own to quantify real-world speed or efficiency. The available evidence does not include an independent, comparable benchmark for the two phones.

Camera system
The 17T’s rear setup covers three distinct fields of view: a 23mm-equivalent 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization, a 115mm-equivalent 50MP periscope telephoto with OIS, and a 15mm-equivalent 12MP ultra-wide. Xiaomi describes the telephoto as offering 5× optical zoom and up to 120× AI Ultra Zoom. Optical zoom and AI-assisted zoom are not equivalent: the latter is a much higher-magnification digital result, not a 120× optical lens. Megapixel counts and lens specifications do not by themselves predict image quality.
Xiaomi calls the periscope telephoto a first for its T-series models with displays of 6.59 inches or smaller, compared with Xiaomi products released before the 17T launch. This is a narrowly defined claim about Xiaomi’s own products, not an industry-wide first. The front camera is listed at 32MP.

Battery and charging
Xiaomi rates the 17T’s silicon-carbon battery at 6,500mAh typical and lists 67W HyperCharge. The phone also supports up to 50W PPS and up to 22.5W wired reverse charging. These are manufacturer specifications, not independently measured charging times or battery-life results; actual charging depends on the charger, cable, temperature and other conditions.
A power adapter is not included in the listed package. Xiaomi recommends a Xiaomi 67W adapter or above, while PPS charging speed depends on compatible hardware. Confirm that a charger supports the required protocol before buying one.

Which phone makes more sense for you?
Choose the Xiaomi 17T if its specific features fit your priorities
- You want a listed periscope telephoto lens with 5× optical zoom in this price comparison.
- The 6,500mAh typical battery rating and 67W wired charging are attractive, and you are comfortable supplying a compatible adapter separately.
- You prefer the 17T’s published display size and specifications, and its 12GB+256GB or 12GB+512GB configuration is available locally.
Consider the Xiaomi 17 if its local specifications justify the difference
- You specifically want the Xiaomi 17 platform identified by Xiaomi’s corporate material as Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
- The Xiaomi 17’s specifications for your region, storage tier, connectivity or size better match what you need. Check the local product page rather than assuming the UK variant applies elsewhere.
- Its current price is close enough to the 17T’s that its verified local advantages matter more to you than the 17T’s listed battery and telephoto details.
Neither chip name nor a camera specification settles the buying decision by itself. Confirm local network compatibility, warranty terms, storage configuration and the specific features that matter to you before ordering. Xiaomi notes that wireless capabilities and package contents can vary by region.
How to compare the price fairly
There is no supported universal price difference between the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17T. The available official pages do not provide a same-market, same-date pair for matching storage tiers, and prices change by country, seller, tax treatment and promotion.

- Choose your country and compare official or authorized local listings available to you.
- Match the storage tier as closely as possible; do not compare a 256GB model with a 512GB model and attribute the entire difference to the phone family.
- Compare the final price including tax, delivery and any required adapter. Separate temporary discounts or bundles from the regular listed price.
- Check the seller, region version, warranty and network-band support before deciding that a lower listing is equivalent.
- Subtract the current price of the Xiaomi 17T from the current price of the comparable Xiaomi 17. Treat the result as a local, dated price gap—not a global figure.
For historical context only, Xiaomi Japan listed the 17T 12GB+256GB at ¥84,980 before tax on its 2026 launch page. The same page showed launch offers running from 28 May through 21 July 2026; that offer period has ended and is not a current deal. This Japan price is not a benchmark for today’s retail price elsewhere.
What comes with the Xiaomi 17T
Xiaomi lists the phone, USB-C cable, SIM eject tool, protective case, safety information, quick start guide and warranty card in the package, while warning that contents may vary by region. Since a case is listed as included, check the box contents for your market before treating one as an additional purchase. A power adapter is not listed as included.

The 17T specification page also lists Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6.0, with a regional availability caveat for Wi-Fi capability. Xiaomi states an IP68 rating under specified laboratory conditions and cautions that resistance can deteriorate over time; the rating is not a guarantee for use outside those conditions.
